Bill Rate: MAX CONFIRMED $65-$68Location: REMOTEDuration: 6 monthsRole: AppSecOps EngineerDescriptions:The Application Security Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the technical infrastructure that enables scalable application security across the organization. This role bridges software engineering and security disciplines to embed security capabilities directly into development workflows, automate security processes, and create developer-friendly tooling that makes secure development the natural path forward. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on engineering skills alongside deep application security expertise and a passion for reducing friction without compromising protection.This role requires a highly self-motivated individual who operates with full ownership and initiative, consistently driving work forward independently without the need for close supervision or repeated direction.Software Engineering ProficiencyProficiency in modern programming languages commonly used in security tooling and automation (Java and JavaScript/TypeScript/Python)Demonstrated ability to design, build, test, and maintain production-quality codeExperience writing maintainable, well-documented, and properly tested codeFamiliarity with version control practices, code review processes, and software development lifecycle disciplinesCI/CD and DevSecOps ExperienceHands-on experience integrating security scanning tools into CI/CD pipelines using platforms such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or comparable toolingExperience configuring security gates with break and warn thresholdsDemonstrated ability to manage pipeline performance optimizationSecurity Tooling and AutomationDemonstrated experience building or customizing security toolsExperience developing custom parsers or integrations for security tool outputsAbility to automate vulnerability triage and routing workflowsExperience working with APIs to expose or consume security capabilities programmaticallyFamiliarity with commercial security platforms and the ability to extend them through custom rules, policies, or pluginsDeveloper Experience and EnablementExperience creating tooling or integrations that improve the developer security experienceDemonstrated ability to build pre-commit hooks, IDE extensions or plugins, command-line utilities, or developer-facing dashboards and portalsAbility to surface security findings in actionable, contextually relevant waysInfrastructure and Platform AdministrationWorking knowledge of maintaining security tool infrastructure including monitoring tool health and availabilityExperience managing upgrades and patch cycles and troubleshooting complex platform issuesExperience with cloud infrastructure fundamentals, containerization platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code toolingCommunication and DocumentationStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear, comprehensive technical documentationExperience creating architecture decision records, runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and onboarding materialsAbility to present technical concepts to both engineering and non-engineering audiencesDiverse Lynx LLC is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
