{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"df5e2dfd06de75236cc2a461","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/df5e2dfd06de75236cc2a461","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/df5e2dfd06de75236cc2a461","title":"Database Engineer","description":"Primary Details\nTime Type: Full time\nWorker Type: Employee\nThe Opportunity\nThe purpose of this role is to work closely with the Infrastructure Engineer Manager to provide continuous services on a global level and supporting teams providing technical advisory, application support, help in developing architecture design patterns, technology-build standards, and operational process standards to ensure a unified global approach meets business requirements.\nLocation: Madison, WI\nWork Arrangement: This role is hybrid, where you will be expected to be in the office 2-3 days per week.\nThe salary range for this role is: $82,000.00 - $123,000.00, depending on experience\nYour new role\nCollaborate with peers and the Architecture team to define a strategic technology roadmap aligned with the global architecture vision.\nEvaluate emerging and existing QBE database technologies, nurturing awareness of new enhancements and features.\nWorks with the Architecture community and other CoPs to evaluate and implement solutions and roadmaps.\nStandardize support tools and techniques for key functions like monitoring, alerting, and backups.\nCreate tools, techniques, and processes for the DB Operational team to ensure real-time validation and technical assurance of new infrastructure.\nManage the DB license compliance and purchase requirements, sharing information with stakeholders.\nEnsure security, confidentiality, and integrity of information systems through compliance with legislation and regulations, implementing necessary controls and management strategies.\nOwn diverse technical expertise including DevOps, troubleshooting, cloud computing, coding/scripting, and infrastructure engineering, along with strong collaboration and communication skills.\nTake ownership of technical problems, proactively resolving issues to ensure solutions meet business requirements.\nIdentify and analyze problems, prioritizing them, documenting causes, and implementing remedies.\nFocus on the entire lifecycle of service delivery, from design and development to delivery and operations, ensuring IT products and vendors work together effectively.\nDemonstrate specialized knowledge necessary for fulfilling role responsibilities effectively.\nUtilize lateral thinking to diagnose root causes of problems and troubleshoot across various technology capabilities, including compute, storage, networking, software, and cloud services.\nExperience:\nHandson experience in Database design & architecture\nHandson Experience in Backup & Recovery scenarios\nExperience in implementing High Availability & Disaster Recovery solutions\nusing Always ON, Clustering, Replication, Mirroring and Log Shipping\nIn - depth knowledge on Database Internals\nCommercial experience in building Cloud Computing like Azure/AWS\nExperience working as a DEVOPS Automation Engineer for database deployment\nExperience in designing ETL for data movement between excel, flat file, RDBMS like\nOracle, DB2 and SQL Server using Bulk Insert, BCP utility, DTS and a variety of\nSSIS (ispac) packages including custom transformations for a wide range of business requirements\nCompensation Package: The salary range for this role is provided above. This is the national range for location(s) listed. The salary offer will be decided based on the role's complexity, its location, and the candidate’s professional background, including their education and experience. Beyond the base salary, regular full-time and part-time employees will also be eligible for QBE’s annual discretionary bonus plan based on business and individual performance.
