Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities and other special needs. This role involves assisting clients in their daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in caregiving, patient care, or related fields, and will be committed to enhancing the quality of life for those they serve. Responsibilities Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation. Provide personal care and support in various settings, including group homes, assisted living facilities, and home care environments. Monitor clients' health by taking vital signs and observing changes in their physical or emotional condition. Implement care plans as directed by healthcare professionals, ensuring adherence to HIPAA guidelines. Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation. Maintain a clean and safe living environment through regular cleaning and organization tasks. Assist with medication administration as needed, following proper protocols. Support individuals with mobility needs, including the use of Hoyer lifts when necessary. Document individual progress and report any concerns to supervisors or healthcare providers. Experience Candidates should possess the following skills and experience: Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is highly desirable. Experience in home health and long-term care settings is beneficial. Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is beneficial; we provide training. Strong patient observation skills to monitor behavioral changes effectively. Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for client assistance. Cooking skills for meal preparation tailored to individual dietary needs. Background in consumer care can enhance the effectiveness of support provided.
