The role requires proficiency in operating blasting and painting equipment, applying protective coatings, maintaining equipment, and following all safety and environmental regulations.\n#IND123\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nSelect, mix, and prepare paints, primers, and protective coatings according to manufacturer specifications and predetermined formulas.\nPerform abrasive blasting operations to remove rust, scale, corrosion, old coatings, and contaminants from structural steel and other surfaces.\nPrepare fabricated steel and related materials for coating by cleaning, washing, stripping, sanding, grinding, and filling surface imperfections.\nOperate sandblasting equipment, spray painting equipment, and other coating application systems safely and efficiently.\nApply paints, primers, and protective coatings using spray, brush, dip, flow-coating, or other approved application methods.\nInspect prepared and painted surfaces to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.\nPerform touch-up painting and repair work as required.\nApply abrasives and chemicals using handheld spray nozzles, blasting hoses, brushes, rollers, and related tools.\nClean, inspect, and maintain blasting, painting, ventilation, compressed air, and personal protective equipment (PPE).\nEnsure work areas are maintained in a safe, clean, and organized condition.\nAssist with loading and unloading trucks, materials, equipment, and fabricated steel products.\nSafely operate hand and power tools, including grinders, drills, hammers, saws, screwdrivers, and related equipment.\nPerform general housekeeping duties, including removal of debris and cleanup of work areas.\nFollow all company safety policies, environmental regulations, and quality control procedures.\nAssist with other production, construction, and project-related tasks as assigned.\nPerform additional duties and responsibilities as required to support operational needs.\nQualifications\nEducation and Experience\nHigh school diploma or GED preferred.\nMinimum of 3 years of industrial blasting and painting experience preferred.\nExperience working with structural steel, industrial coatings, and abrasive blasting equipment required.\nKnowledge of coating systems, surface preparation standards, and industrial painting techniques preferred.\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nThorough understanding of abrasive blasting and industrial painting procedures.\nAbility to read and interpret coating specifications, work orders, and safety requirements.\nKnowledge of proper coating application methods and surface preparation standards.\nAbility to safely operate blasting, painting, and material handling equipment.\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced industrial environment.\nBasic understanding of hand and power tools used in construction and fabrication environments.\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.\nAbility to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly, with or without reasonable accommodation.\nAbility to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.\nAbility to wear required PPE, including respirators, blasting hoods, protective clothing, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection.\nWork Environment\nThe First Class Blaster Painter works in industrial fabrication, manufacturing, and construction environments where exposure to dust, abrasives, paint fumes, chemicals, noise, and varying weather conditions may occur.
