DESIGN MANAGER II

Rohadfox invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Design Manager II within our Architecture & Planning Unit (APU). This role offers the opportunity to impact the journey of billions of travelers by contributing to significant capital improvement projects including airfield enhancements, terminal upgrades, and infrastructure developments.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership:
Lead a multi-disciplinary team of planners, architects, engineers, and technical professionals in the planning, design, permitting, procurement, construction, and activation of airport capital improvement projects.
Develop business cases in coordination with clients and stakeholders for potential capital projects.
Present preliminary design alternatives and conduct comparative analyses to address the requirements and concerns of LAWA leadership and stakeholders.
Design Review and Compliance:
Ensure that all planning and design submittals are complete, accurate, and in compliance with applicable project requirements, codes, and regulations.
Provide detailed and constructive feedback to the planning and design team, enhancing project outcomes.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Actively solicit feedback from internal and external stakeholders, guiding design teams through project constraints to optimize outcomes in terms of quality, cost, schedule, and sustainability.
Manage the design efforts across multiple projects to ensure a consistent architectural vision and user experience across the LAX campus.
Strategic Project Management:
Oversee the design process through all project stages—definition, concept, schematic, design development, construction documents, and construction administration—to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Facilitate seamless transitions as projects move from planning through to design, procurement, construction, and activation.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of professional experience, preferably on large, complex airport capital projects.
Licensure as an Architect or Engineer is preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, PowerBI) and familiarity with Planning & Design Software (AutoDesk, SketchUp).
Optional certifications such as AAAE, CASp, LEED, PMP are desirable.
Working Conditions:
Office environment with regular on-site responsibilities and coordination.
Interaction with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, necessitating excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Occasional travel and flexibility to work extended hours as project needs dictate.

Pay: $130.00 - $140.00 per hour
