We are part of the ‘Connected Fleet’ team, developing tools to assist clients driving towards the modern vehicle experience. In addition to working closely with the Sawatch development team of six, you will regularly interface with other WEX engineering teams.\nYou’ll help design and develop intuitive, performant web and back-end applications and deliver seamless customer experiences that enhance the customer experience. These platforms allow large fleets and transportation companies to operate their fleets more efficiently, prevent and reduce fraud and make data-driven procurement decisions.\nHow you’ll make an impact:\nDesign, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance web applications.\nDevelop public REST APIs using Python and Node for inter-service and inter-system communication.\nImplement comprehensive automated testing strategies, including unit, integration, end-to-end, load, and performance testing.\nIdentify bottlenecks and tech debt; drive incremental scalability, and stability improvements.\nDevelop and enhance automation frameworks for testing, monitoring, auto-scaling, continuous integration and deployment to reduce time to market.\nConduct code reviews (comment, approve, seek revisions, merge), and champion engineering best practices, and continuously raise the quality bar.\nTroubleshoot complex production issues, devise fixes, author root cause analysis documents, and ensure lasting performance and reliability.\nMaintain robust documentation (design docs, run books, change management docs, and readiness plans).\nAnalyze data to understand risk problems and build effective solutions.\nAnalyze system performance and identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.\nExperience you'll bring:\n5-8 years of professional experience in software engineering.\nExpertise in backend development, including strong proficiency in Python, Node.js, Go or C++ and building and optimizing RESTful APIs and SQL.\nStrong foundation in data structures and algorithms, object-oriented design, and problem-solving.\nExperience with cloud-native environments, including Docker, Kubernetes, or AWS/GCP/Azure.\nExperience with event-driven architecture and tools like Kafka.\nFamiliarity with relational or NoSQL databases; e.g. SQL, MongoDB.\nExpertise in designing and developing internet-scale services with scalability, availability, security, and reliability design tenets.\nFamiliarity with Git, automated testing frameworks, and CI/CD workflows.\nClear written and verbal communication skills, and a collaborative and empathetic mindset.\nOther nice-to-haves:\nAwareness of API security requirements.\nExperience or familiarity with telematics data, time-series data, and/or geospatial data.\nAbility to work within existing codebases with legacy systems constraints.\nProficiency with modern front-end frameworks such as Angular or React.\nSolid understanding of web security fundamentals including authentication, authorization, and data protection.\nProven experience with micro-frontends or module federation.\nExperience developing with the assistance of AI-driven tools.\nExperience working with geographically distributed teams.\nThe base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position.
