This is a full-time position.\n\nResponsibilities:\nServes as an Aeronautical technical expert for the functional areas critical to a project or a portfolio of projects.\nSupport and assist system analyses to include, but not be limited to, avionics system design, design feasibility and state-of-the-art assessment.\nPerform analyses of avionics and subsystems including new technologies as they relate to system threat analysis, laser systems, computer systems, avionics interfaces, multiplex bus communications, and identify potential issues and/or areas of improvement for Government consideration.\nProvide professional aeronautical engineering work involved in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes for the acquisition, development and sustainment of weapon systems and subsystems.\nPerform complex and comprehensive analysis using systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approaches to implement, develop and document projects.\nSupport multiple aspects of RFP development and related technical evaluations.\nSupport development of systems requirements documents and systems specifications to include verification activities relating analysis and testing.\nAdvise and assist the customer with requirements analysis, Concept of Operations development, Operational and Communications Security Policy, and field support associated with current and future airborne tactical data link, and aerial network architectures.\nAdvise in the area of security oversight, technology insertion, tactical data link fielding and aircraft modernization/upgrades, and platform integration of 4th and 5th Generation fighter programs.\nProvide analytical services to senior Air Force and National Guard Bureau military leadership regarding current and future weapons systems, airborne networks, advanced programs, and associated technology supporting the continued integration, modernization, relevance and sustainment of weapons systems, avionics upgrades, and capabilities.\nParticipate in capability development activities and produces or reviews products related to early planning, analysis, and systems engineering activities.\nProvide linkages between operational needs, system performance requirements, technology needs and opportunities, potential lifecycle costs, and establish a technical foundation for materiel development.\nAssist with technical requirements compliance pertaining to avionics development, test, sustainment, and operations pertaining to navigation, voice communication systems, Line of Sight (LOS) and BLOS data link systems, military and civilian communication networks, network protocols, Information Protection Security and Access Protocols packaging for network designs.\nAdvise and assist the Government in providing expertise for large aircraft defensive systems and sensors to support systems and subsystems engineering, technical guidance, and support to the program offices to design, develop, manufacture, integrate, test, and deploy electronic sensors, and defensive avionics for airborne weapon systems in support of aircraft survivability requirements.\nQualifications:\n\n20+ years experience in aeronautical engineering including at least 10 years working in a DoD environment. Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Possess the advanced knowledge, experience and recognized ability to be considered an expert in the technical/professional field, possess the ability to perform tasks and oversee the efforts of junior and journeyman personnel within the technical/professional discipline. Demonstrate advanced knowledge of technical/professional discipline as well as possess a comprehensive understanding and ability to apply associated standards, procedures and practices in their area of expertise. Experience in identifying engineering/acquisition strategy issues and proposing alternative solutions. Experience in assisting with strategic level issues and ability to work independently and as a team member under tight deadlines with changing priorities. Proven leadership, team building, strategic planning, and organizational development skills. Experience in preparing and presenting briefings for senior level reviews. Extensive experience initiating and managing high visibility aircraft programs. Knowledge of all aspects of Air Reserve Component Air Dominance platform operational requirements and roadmap planning. Able to manage the bed down of ARC emerging technology and advanced program requirements, conduct site surveys and ensure unit compliance with security requirements. Extensive experience with defense acquisition management processes in accordance with the DoD 5000 and variations such as JUON capabilities. Able to lead a project team in completing complex projects and mentoring junior workforce as needed. Experience and expertise in their domain, capability, or functional area, including the engineering principles, policies and practices required to support systems acquisition and the engineering documentation as defined in DoDI 5000.2. Knowledge of aeronautical engineering supporting multi-specialty teams to achieve results specified by program leadership in aircraft research, development, production, and lifecycle acquisition and sustainment activities.
