This role is primarily office-based and focused on transforming raw field data into accurate, defensible deliverables that support engineering design, permitting, and construction.\r\nThis position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with large geospatial datasets, developing efficient processing workflows, and producing high-quality technical deliverables.\r\nWe are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country where the job is located.\r\nWhat You Will Do\r\nCore Processing Workflow (Primary Role):\r\nProcess multibeam and singlebeam hydrographic data using QPS Qimera , including:\r\nData cleaning, refraction correction, and sound velocity application\r\nPatch test validation and calibration review\r\nSurface generation and uncertainty analysis\r\nReview and validate acquisition logs and metadata from QINSy to ensure proper integration into processing workflows\r\nPerform side scan sonar processing and interpretation using SonarWiz , including:\r\nMosaicking and gain normalization\r\nTarget identification and classification (e.g., debris, infrastructure, seabed features)\r\nContact selection and reporting\r\nGeospatial & Deliverable Development:\r\nExport processed datasets for integration into AutoCAD Civil 3D , including:\r\nCreation of bathymetric surfaces from high-density point clouds\r\nGeneration of contours, breaklines, and gridded soundings (e.g., 25' x 25')\r\nVolume calculations and surface comparisons (existing vs. design or layered surfaces)\r\nPrepare plan sheets and figures consistent with project standards (e.g., ODMDS-style deliverables, channel surveys, dredge support)\r\nSupport production of\r\nBathymetric maps and sounding sheets\r\nSide scan sonar mosaics and contact plots\r\nCross sections and profile views\r\nGIS-compatible datasets and metadata\r\nAdvanced Data Integration\r\nIntegrate datasets across multiple sensors and platforms\r\nMultibeam, singlebeam, side scan sonar, sub-bottom (as applicable)\r\nGNSS control and positioning data\r\nTerrestrial or mobile LiDAR for shoreline/structure tie-ins\r\nAssist with seabed characterization workflows, including combining backscatter and side scan interpretation where applicable\r\nSupport SLAM-integrated datasets or GNSS-denied workflows (as applicable to project needs)\r\nQuality Assurance & Workflow Development:\r\nPerform QA/QC checks to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project specifications\r\nDocument processing workflows and maintain reproducibility across projects\r\nIdentify inefficiencies and contribute to improving internal processing standards\r\nCoordinate with field teams to resolve data gaps, anomalies, or acquisition issues\r\nCollaboration & Project Support:\r\nWork closely with project managers and technical leads to meet project schedules and deliverable requirements\r\nProvide input to survey planning and acquisition strategies based on processing needs\r\nSupport proposal efforts with technical approach language, example deliverables, and production estimates\r\nWhat You Will Bring\r\nBachelor's degree in surveying, Geomatics, ocean engineering, geology, geography, spatial science, marine science, or related field\r\n3 years + of Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D for surface development and plan production\r\nStrong understanding of hydrographic survey principles and geospatial data workflows\r\nDetail-oriented mindset with a focus on producing accurate, defensible datasets\r\nAbility to manage multiple datasets and deadlines in a production environment\r\nSelf-motivated, curious, and adaptable with strong problem-solving skills\r\nPreferred Experience and Qualifications\r\nExperience with QINSy (acquisition awareness) and Qimera (processing)\r\nExperience with SonarWiz for side scan sonar processing and interpretation\r\nExperience with\r\nBathymetric surface generation and uncertainty evaluation\r\nSide scan mosaicking and contact reporting\r\nVolume calculations and layered surface analysis\r\nFamiliarity with\r\nSub-bottom profiler data (CHIRP) and interpretation (a plus)\r\nGNSS processing (Trimble Business Center or similar)\r\nGlobal Mapper or GIS platforms\r\nExperience with LiDAR processing and integration workflows\r\nStrong data visualization and deliverable presentation skills\r\nWhat Success Looks Like in This Role\r\nProduces clean, accurate bathymetric surfaces and deliverables with minimal rework\r\nEfficiently processes multibeam and side scan datasets across varying project types\r\nUnderstands how field decisions impact processing outcomes (and helps improve both)\r\nContributes to consistent, repeatable workflows across the team\r\nSupports high-quality deliverables similar to those used in federal and coastal projects (e.g., channel surveys, ODMDS, infrastructure assessments)\r\nBenefits You Will Love\r\nCertified as a Great Place to Work, Woolpert is one of the fastest-growing architecture, engineering, and geospatial companies in the world.
