Min Hourly Rate $14.70 (Standard); $13.70 (Non-Urban); $15.95 (Portland Metro) Max Hourly Rate $17.00 (Standard); $16.50 (Non-Urban); $18.00 (Portland Metro) Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week) Office and Social Media Assistant for the School of Communication at Oregon State University (OSU). Office administrative and social media assistant performs administrative support for the School of Communication. This position will also be responsible to monitor and update as necessary the school’s social media accounts. The position will work under the direction of the Assistant to the School Director. Position Duties Monitoring of college public facing email accounts Answer phone calls into the main office Provide customer service at the main reception area Perform scheduling of school common areas as necessary Perform filing, organization, and other administrative support Secure offices and classrooms as necessary at the end of day Monitor School of Communication Media accounts to include, but not limited to: LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Alert School Director or Assistant to Director of queries or external posts requiring responses. Updates posts under the direction of the School Director or Assistant to the Director Other assigned tasks Minimum Qualifications Full Employment Eligibility Requirements can be found here: http://fa.oregonstate.edu/stu-manual/500-employment-eligibility-requirements Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term* Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term* International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center. Additional Required Qualifications Experience with social media Must be able to climb stairways and occasionally lift a minimum of 40 pounds due to the physical layout of the building, and lack of elevators and other equipment This position requires good judgment, ability to work with others, motivation, self-starting abilities, energy, commitment, attention to detail, a caring and positive attitude, self-discipline, sensitivity to racial and cultural diversity, and common sense Preferred (Special) Qualifications Current student in the New Media Communication department of the School of Communication Working Conditions / Work Schedule The student worker may be required to work up to an approximate 15 to 20 hours per week.
