Speech-Language Pathologist","description":"Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)\nPart-Time | ActivCare Rolling Hills & ActivCare Mission Bay\n\nSome of the most important things we do as clinicians have nothing to do with “fixing” someone.\n\nSometimes it's helping someone find the words.\n\nSometimes it's helping a family understand how to communicate differently.\n\nSometimes it's helping a resident stay safe at the dining table.\n\nSometimes it's finding a way for someone living with dementia to continue participating in the world around them.\n\nThat's speech therapy in senior living.\n\nAnd that's exactly what we're looking for at ActivCare Communities.\n\nPrava is seeking a part-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our clinical team at some of the most thoughtfully designed senior living communities.\n\nActivCare Communities are built around a simple promise: to love and care for each family as they do their own.\n\nTheir model combines highly individualized care, 24/7 nursing, specialized memory care, and the ability to support residents as their needs change over time.\n\nThat makes this a remarkable environment for an SLP.\n\nThis is not a traditional SLP role.\n\nYou won't be treating people in isolation from their everyday lives.\n\nYou'll be working in their home.\n\nYou'll see how communication, cognition, swallowing, and functional independence actually affect the resident's day.\n\nYou'll work alongside caregivers who know residents deeply.\n\nYou'll collaborate with nurses, families, activities and life enrichment teams, and other clinicians.\n\nAnd you'll have the opportunity to make your therapy functional in a way that is difficult to replicate in a traditional outpatient environment.\n\nYour work may look like:\n\nHelping a resident with dementia communicate a need that others are struggling to understand\n\nDeveloping strategies that help a resident participate more successfully in conversation\n\nSupporting cognitive-communication skills that allow a resident to remain as independent as possible\n\nEvaluating and treating swallowing and feeding-related concerns within your scope of practice\n\nHelping caregivers understand how to communicate with residents experiencing cognitive change\n\nCreating environmental and communication strategies that reduce frustration and increase participation\n\nSupporting safe and meaningful mealtimes\n\nHelping families understand what is changing—and what can still be preserved\n\nCollaborating with the interdisciplinary team when a resident's function or communication changes\n\nHelping residents remain connected to the people and activities that matter to them\n\nWe want you to think beyond the diagnosis.\n\nA resident may have dementia.\n\nBut dementia isn't the goal of therapy.\n\nA resident may have dysphagia.\n\nBut dysphagia isn't the goal of therapy.\n\nA resident may have aphasia or cognitive-communication deficits.\n\nBut those aren't the reason we're here.\n\nThe reason we're here is the person.\n\nMaybe it's being able to tell a story.\n\nBeing understood by a spouse.\n\nParticipating in a favorite activity.\n\nSharing a meal safely with friends.\n\nMaking a choice.\n\nExpressing a need.\n\nLaughing at a joke.\n\nRemaining part of the community.\n\nThose moments matter.\n\nActivCare Communities specifically emphasizes individualized care based on each resident's physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual needs, with a strong focus on dignity and preserving independence.\n\nWe want an SLP who believes in that same philosophy.\n\nThis is where clinical creativity matters.\n\nActivCare Communities support residents with a wide range of needs, including individuals living with different stages of memory loss and residents requiring more complex assistance.\n\nThat means you won't see the same clinical picture every day.\n\nYou'll need to think.\n\nAdapt.\n\nProblem-solve.\n\nCommunicate.\n\nAnd sometimes throw the textbook out and ask:\n\n“What will actually work for this person?”\n\nThat's the kind of clinician we're looking for.\n\nWho are you?\n\nYou're a California-licensed Speech-Language Pathologist who:\n\nLoves working with older adults\n\nHas strong clinical skills in cognition and/or swallowing\n\nUnderstands dementia and neurodegenerative conditions—or wants to become exceptionally good at working with them\n\nThinks functionally rather than simply diagnostically\n\nIs comfortable collaborating with caregivers and families\n\nCan translate complex clinical information into language people actually understand\n\nIs creative, patient, and curious\n\nCan work independently while remaining highly collaborative\n\nTakes pride in the quality of their clinical work\n\nBelieves dignity and autonomy are part of clinical care—not something separate from it\n\nSenior living experience is a plus.\n\nBut we care more about how you think than where you've worked.\n\nWhy Prava?\n\nBecause we're building a different way to deliver rehabilitation in senior living.\n\nPrava gives clinicians the infrastructure to focus on what matters most:\n\nThe resident.\n\nYou'll have access to:\n\nModern technology\n\nA therapy platform designed around clinicians, including AI-enabled documentation tools.\n\nClinical infrastructure\n\nStandards, resources, mentorship, and a growing clinical community.\n\nOperational support\n\nPrava handles the infrastructure behind the scenes so you can spend more of your time doing clinical work.\n\nAn embedded model\n\nYou're not a therapist who drops in, treats, and disappears.\n\nYou become part of the community.\n\nA chance to grow\n\nEven in a part-time role, you'll have opportunities to grow clinically, contribute to the Prava model, and expand your role as the community and program grow.\n\nThe best SLPs don't just treat communication.\n\nThey protect connection.\n\nThey help people remain understood.\n\nThey help families stay connected.\n\nThey help residents maintain choice, dignity, and participation—even as their abilities change.\n\nThat's meaningful work.\n\nAnd at ActivCare Communities, there's a lot of meaningful work to do.\n\nThe opportunity\n\nSpeech-Language Pathologist (SLP)\nPart-Time\n\nIf you're looking for a part-time SLP role where your clinical judgment matters, your creativity matters, and the people you serve actually know you—\n\nWe'd like to meet you.\n\nCome practice speech therapy
