Director of Credit
Director of CreditPosition Summary:We are seeking a strategic, high volume, Director of Credit to lead the assessment, development, and evolution of our credit and collections function in alignment with our growth objectives. Reporting to the VP, Controller, this role is responsible for evaluating existing credit and collections structures, identifying opportunities for improvement, and designing scalable processes and policies that support a dynamic, expanding organization. This leader will collaborate cross-functionally to drive operational excellence, reduce delinquency rates, and improve cash flow while maintaining a customer-centric approach.Essential Job Functions:Oversee all credit and collections activities within a growing organization.Conduct a comprehensive review of current credit and collections policies, procedures, and systems, with a focus on effectiveness, scalability, and alignment with organizational growth.Design, develop, and implement enhanced credit and collections strategies that support improved cash flow, reduced delinquency, and minimized credit risk.Develop and implement performance metrics and reporting tools to monitor key indicators and ensure continuous improvement.Partner closely with sales, customer service, and finance teams to resolve complex credit and collections issues and ensure alignment across functions.Present actionable insights, progress updates, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing credit and collections team.Ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulations governing credit and collections practices.Proactively identify and mitigate credit risk through thoughtful policy design and data-driven decision-making.Leverage technology and automation to streamline credit evaluation and collections processes.Stay informed on industry trends and evolving best practices, and apply relevant insights to strengthen internal capabilities.Support organizational growth by creating scalable frameworks that adapt to increasing volume and complexity.Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.Proven leadership experience, with the background in change management and function/team transformation.Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in credit and collections, with a focus on process improvement and strategy development.Proven success in redesigning or scaling credit and collections operations within a growing organization.Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to turn data into actionable strategies.Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with credit and collections software platforms.Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.Physical/Environmental Demands:Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, & noise occasionally.Exposure to grease, oil, chemicals, & wet conditions occasionally.Primarily works in office setting, but will be required to travel to other local divisions as needed.Benefits:Comprehensive benefit package Medical, Dental, Vision401K, Profit Sharing, Company MatchEmployee Assistance ProgramLife InsurancePaid Vacation and Sick TimeRecognition programsProfessional development learningAthens will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the requirements of the Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance and any other applicable state, federal or local laws.
