The Electrical Engineer III is a mid-level engineer who executes electrical engineering design and analysis tasks with moderate supervision. This role supports project delivery by producing quality deliverables, coordinating with other disciplines, and resolving routine technical issues. The Electrical Engineer III is expected to work independently on well-defined tasks, apply engineering standards and codes, and elevate higher-risk or ambiguous issues to senior engineers.\n\nJob Responsibilities\n\nAbility to lead a discipline engineering team on projects with some guidance; supervise design personnel and other staff specialists.\n\nResponsible for electrical engineering and design review. Assist in the development of design standards, specifications, and discipline quality control procedures.\n\nServe as the lead Engineer or technical expert on small to medium projects. Plan and manage the engineering activities on a project.\n\nMaintain and comment on the schedule and budget of assigned projects and understand the scope of assigned tasks.\n\nPerform power engineering tasks and calculations for processing and heavy industrial, including Oil and Gas, Renewables, Petrochemical and Industrial Wastewater Treatment facilities under the direction and supervision of a Staff Electrical Engineer.\n\nSupport specification development and research for distribution switchgear, MCCs, panels, motor starters/VFDs, etc.\n\nBe competent in oneline and panel schedule development, simple cable tray/conduit layout and fill calculations, cable/wire sizing, CAD drafting.\n\nReview vendor submittals and develop wiring diagrams based on vendor drawings.\n\nReview work for discrepancies or inconsistencies.\n\nTrack details of work to discuss with supervisor.\n\nResearch and resolve issues with all available tools.\n\nDevelop and improve technical knowledge and skills.\n\nMaintain professionalism in relationships with other office and team members.\n\nMentor less experienced engineers, designers and drafters.\n\nPlan what needs to be communicated and how to present the information effectively.\n\nSeek out company and client technical standards and implement them on projects.\n\nTravel when requested.\n\nMake site visits to observe during construction and operation.\n\nDesign lighting layouts, luminate selection, and circuit switching.\n\nFollow QA/QC procedures; complete self-checks before submitting work for review.\n\nMaintain organized project files, calculations, and design assumptions in accordance with document control requirements.\n\nContribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement of templates and standards.\n\nQualifications\n\nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar ABET accredited engineering degree and relevant experience.\n\n7-10+ years’ experience.\n\nCourse work in power engineering.\n\nEngineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required.\n\nProfessional Engineer status preferred in home state.\n\nNCEES Registration.\n\nWorking understanding of the National Electrical Code and NFPA 70E.\n\nAbility to create and understand One-Line Diagrams and Control Schematics.\n\nProficiency with engineering tools such as ETAP / SKM.\n\nProficient knowledge of symmetrical components, fault current calculations, and machine theory.\n\nAbility to work with supervisor to effectively complete routine tasks.\n\nCapable of breaking a task into one or more component parts and sequencing those parts effectively.\n\nExperience with medium voltage systems and protective devices (exposure level).\n\nConstruction/commissioning support experience (site walkdowns, RFIs, as-builts).\n\nExecute practical and constructable design solutions.\n\nSolid understanding of the scope, schedule and budget assigned for engineering tasks.\n\nSelf-starter with the ability to work with more experienced electrical engineers to apply standard textbook electrical design and analysis approach.\n\nEfficiently execute design from concept through completion.\n\nAbility to logically organize work and delegate tasks to junior team members.\n\nCollaborate with electrical and other discipline team members on various projects.\n\nOffer suggestions and corrections on organization and planning issues.\n\nWork through conflict to keep tasks moving forward.\n\nFamiliar with the “business” of electrical engineering as well as the technical design issues.\n\nStrong verbal and written communication skills that are well organized and persuasive.\n\nProficient in MS Office Suite, such as Word and Excel.\n\nTarget Salary Range\n$124,000 to $155,000.
