In partnership with internal business units, this role ensures the precision and inspection of parts moving into the facility. This role supports Generac Quality Management Systems, drives data collection, reporting and analysis. Partners with leaders in the daily operation of an area with responsibility to improve quality systems, processes, and performance.\n\nJob Summary:\n\nThe Quality Technician is responsible for facilitating the parts quality process throughout the organization. In partnership with internal business units, this role ensures the precision and inspection of parts moving into the facility. This role supports Generac Quality Management Systems, drives data collection, reporting and analysis. Partners with leaders in the daily operation of an area with responsibility to improve quality systems, processes, and performance.\n\nResponsibilities:\nQuality Tech I\n\nConducts process and product audits to ensure team members are following standardized operating procedures and adhering to all quality standards.\nImplements resolutions from basic to moderately complex problems.\nExercises judgement within procedures and practices in selecting methods and techniques for arriving at solutions.\nImplements process improvements to continuously improve quality.\nCross train in multiple departments or stations and flex to other similar departments based on business necessity.\nAssist with NPI/ECN changes and other duties as assigned by Quality Supervisor or Manager\nSuggest and implement improvements of existing equipment, designs, and/or processes to improve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.\nResolve problems with assistance from peers or supervisors depending on the level and complexity.\n\nQuality Tech II\n\nAll Quality Tech I responsibilities\nAble to conduct standardized problem-solving process and aid/support implementing corrective actions to resolve design, supplier, or production quality issues.\nSupports facility in gage/tool calibration and Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R)\nTrains others in quality tool usage to implement process improvements to continuously improve quality.\n\nQuality Tech III\n\nAll Quality Tech I & II responsibilities\nUses initiative and judgement to lead problem solving and implementing appropriate countermeasures.\nCarry out calibration duties, update KPI board for Quality, assist with training new Quality Techs\nLeading team/virtual meetings and exchange job related information\nSolve problems independently within designated authority level.\nUses root cause problem solving (5 WHY, 8D, PDCA, etc.)\nEffectively training other employees to work instructions/standard work\n\nRequirements:\n\nQuality Technician I\n\nEducation: High School diploma or equivalent\nExperience: 0–3 years in quality\nProblem Solving: Basic\nLeadership: Supports team communication and metrics\nTechnical Knowledge: Basic drawing, wiring, schematic interpretation; intermediate PC skills\n\nQuality Technician II\n\nEducation: Associate’s degree or equivalent\nExperience: 3+ years in quality\nProblem Solving: Moderate\nLeadership: Leads team communication on quality metrics and project countermeasures; ability to train others\nTechnical Knowledge: Intermediate knowledge of PPAP, PFMEA, Quality Control Plans, mistake proofing, NMR, ECR, SPC, ISO processes; CMM programming knowledge\n\nQuality Technician III\n\nEducation: Bachelor’s degree preferred\nExperience: 5+ years in quality or Certified Quality Technician preferred\nProblem Solving: Advanced, including cross-functional issues\nLeadership: Leads multiple teams or departments; mentors and trains others\nTechnical Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of all QC tools, ISO systems, and process improvement methodologies; design audits and complex corrective actions\n\nAdditional Skills (All Levels)\n\nMaintain professional rapport with peers and support groups\nCommunicate issues and countermeasures to Supervisor\nPerform reading, writing, and math functions\nCommitment to continuous learning and quality standards\n\nPhysical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds.
