We offer hourly employee development to our teammates and more than 50% of our managers come from the hourly ranks!Job Description: Shift Manager at Wendy'sPosition TitleShift ManagerReports ToRestaurant Manager/ General ManagerResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team SupervisionSupervise and lead team members during the shift, ensuring tasks are performed effectively and efficiently.Provide guidance, coaching, and feedback to team members to improve performance and foster a positive team environment.Ensure the team is trained on company policies, procedures, and best practices.Delegate tasks to staff based on priorities and workflow, ensuring all areas of the restaurant are covered.Customer ServiceEnsure an exceptional guest experience by maintaining high service standards and resolving customer issues promptly.Monitor guest satisfaction and handle concerns to ensure customers leave with a positive impression.Lead by example in providing friendly and efficient service to all guests.Operational EfficiencyOversee daily operations, including food preparation, inventory management, and cleaning procedures.Ensure food is prepared to Wendy's quality standards and delivered in a timely manner.Monitor restaurant performance during the shift (speed of service, food quality, cleanliness).Financial & Cash HandlingEnsure accurate cash handling and register operations, including opening/closing registers and processing transactions.Assist in managing labor costs by adjusting staffing levels as needed.Maintain adherence to company policies for handling cash and payments.Staffing & SchedulingManage breaks, meal periods, and shifts for staff.Step in to cover shifts or assist with additional tasks as required.Food Safety & SanitationEnsure compliance with health and safety regulations, including food handling and cleanliness standards.Monitor kitchen and dining areas to maintain cleanliness throughout the shift.Oversee proper storage and handling of food and supplies to prevent waste or contamination.Problem-Solving & Decision MakingMake quick and effective decisions in response to operational challenges, customer issues, or staff concerns.Resolve conflicts or issues among team members or with customers, escalating as needed.Communication & ReportingCommunicate effectively with management, staff, and guests to ensure smooth operations.Report issues, equipment malfunctions, or significant occurrences to the Restaurant Manager.Provide feedback to management on employee performance and operational improvements.Skills & QualificationsExperiencePrevious experience in food service, preferably in a supervisory or leadership role. A background in fast-casual or quick-service restaurants is a plus.LeadershipStrong leadership and people management skills to foster a positive work environment.Customer ServiceExcellent customer service skills with the ability to resolve complaints and ensure satisfaction.CommunicationClear and effective communication, verbal and written.Problem-SolvingAbility to make decisions quickly and resolve issues with minimal disruption.MultitaskingStrong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities.Attention to DetailHigh level of attention to detail in maintaining restaurant standards.Job RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periods (4-8+ hours) with breaks.Repetitive motions including chopping, stirring, carrying, and operating equipment.Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, stretching, twisting, and reaching above eye level.Ability to walk up and down stairs and use a step ladder as needed.Occasional sitting, talking, and listening as required by the role.Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly; use lifting equipment or assistance for heavier loads.Move around the kitchen quickly and efficiently.Compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.Work Environment / Job ConditionsFlexible scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays.Work in a loud, fast-paced environment.Varying temperature zones, including hot kitchen areas and cold storage, with exposure to heat, noise, and cleaning chemicals.Proper PPE and training for safety during temperature-sensitive tasks.Awareness of temperature fluctuations and safe practices to maintain food safety and well-being.Job duties span indoor and outdoor settings; adaptability required.Outdoor tasks may include curbside delivery, trash maintenance, and exterior upkeep.Hazards such as hot surfaces, sharp objects, and wet floors; follow safety protocols.This job description provides an overview of the responsibilities and qualifications for the Shift Manager position at Wendy's.
