Job DescriptionDescription:Enlace Chicago is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of the residents of the Little Village Community by fostering a physically safe and healthy environment in which to live and by championing opportunities for educational advancement and economic development.Job Summary: Enlace Chicago partners with nine neighborhood public schools in Little Village to transform them into fun, safe, and innovative community-driven learning environments for youth and adults during after school hours. A Community School extends the walls of a traditional school into the community by coordinating classes, resources, events and opportunities for academic acceleration and intervention, social emotional development, arts and cultural enrichment, sports and outdoor programming, summer youth opportunities, middle school to high school transition, post-secondary success and career exploration, health and wellness and adult education with family leadership opportunities.The Resource Coordinator (RC) informs and facilitates community school direct programs at the school level. The role includes the ability to support the implementation of the Enlace and Education Team vision and framework, based on community cultural wealth and a strong commitment to collaborative work that will inform the community school programming inclusive of administration, youth, parents and multi-sector stakeholders. The RC will serve as the person who will provide support and coordination of new and existing resources in the school to seamlessly weave the school day and out of school time offerings. These resources will include funding, volunteers, staff and other tools that will aid in the success of a comprehensive Enlace Community School model.Reports to: Director of EducationAccountable to: Director of Education, Deputy Director of Programs, School AdministratorsCommunicates with: Resource Coordinators, Education School team members, and Finance teamInforms: School-based staff members, Enlace Education Team and other Community Schools staffStatus: Full-TimeDuties & Responsibilities: Work in collaboration with parents, students, teachers, on-site management team, education team staff and Enlace staff, community members and school administrators to develop new and sustainable programs. Strong commitment to learn, reflect, plan and support the implementation of programs that are framed using Critical Race Theory, and that will promote Black and Brown unity and solidarity. Commitment to an active participation in learning opportunities about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Sustain and enhance partnership between the school and Enlace Education Team. Build relationships with community members to further Enlace Chicago’s mission. Plan, implement, manage and assess community school programs at respective sites. Identify and coordinate resources to support the Education and Community School vision. Facilitate the Community School Advisory Board composed of parents, teachers, principal, community member, Enlace Chicago staff and students/youth participants. Orient, supervise and evaluate the performance of Community School staff including parent coordinator, program assistant, instructors, child-care providers, security, and volunteers. Cultivate relationships with other local schools and social service organizations to continually enhance the services provided at the Community School. Collaborate with the entire Education team and Little Village Education Collaborative team to streamline efforts for ECE, primary, middle school and high school transitions. Reporting and evaluation implementation as needed. Work closely with Enlace staff and education staff in order to comply with requirements and deadlines set by funding agencies. Some small-scale grant writing, resource development and establishing partnerships to secure funding for continuous growth at school sites. Support Enlace education leadership and school administrators to develop and maintain budgets, payroll and expenses for all programs at the Community School. Coordinate and organize community schools’ events and outreach strategies. Represent Enlace at conferences, meetings, and trainings. Initiate necessary communication with community stakeholders. Develop a yearly work plan. Attend education department meetings, Enlace Chicago All Staff Meetings, budget meetings and other meetings as identified by Enlace Education Team leadership and the school administration. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in education or social service preferred or 3-5 years of relevant work experience. Minimum of 2-3 years of work experience in a position of significant responsibility within a school/educational setting. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with youth, parents, and community members. Effective communication and organizational skills; i.e. strong writing, research and presentation skills. Experience and commitment to working with urban Latino and Black communities. Highly motivated, dedicated, self-starter, and detail oriented. Strong background in forming relationships, youth development, community building, and networking. This position will require some evening and weekend hours. The main office space will be at the Community School building and in accordance with the school facilities and availability, it requires a high level of flexibility and coordination and collaboration with the school staff and administration. Computer literacy is required - Microsoft Word and Excel as well as Google Suites, Graphics knowledge a plus. A valid driver’s license and car is necessary. Bilingual Spanish/English (speaking and writing) required.
