This role owns the finance function, ensuring the company has accurate, timely, and decision-useful information to manage profitable growth across sales, production, inventory, purchasing, warehousing, and customer service.\n\nThe Controller is a hands-on business partner who connects financial performance to operational performance. The role leads month-end close, budgeting and forecasting, working-capital management, cost and margin analysis, internal controls, and compliance while helping leadership make practical, data-based decisions.\n\n*Key Responsibilities*\n\n*Financial Leadership and Planning*\n\n* Serve as the primary finance partner to the General Manager and leadership team, providing clear analysis of financial performance, risks, opportunities, and required actions.\n* Lead the annual operating plan, budget, monthly forecast, and longer-range financial-planning processes.\n* Develop and maintain management reporting for sales, gross margin, operating expenses, profitability, working capital, and cash flow.\n* Analyze performance against budget, forecast, prior year, and operational targets; explain material variances and recommend corrective action.\n* Support decisions related to pricing, customer terms, product mix, capital expenditures, sourcing, inventory investments, and growth initiatives.\n\n*Accounting, Close, and Financial Reporting*\n\n* Lead the accurate and timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.\n* Oversee the general ledger, journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, intercompany activity, account reconciliations, and financial-statement preparation.\n* Maintain a disciplined close calendar and ensure all balance-sheet accounts are reconciled, reviewed, and supported.\n* Prepare and review the income statement, balance sheet, cash-flow statement, and supporting schedules; communicate significant trends, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership.\n* Coordinate external audit, tax, banking, insurance, and other finance-related requests; maintain complete and well-organized financial documentation.\n\n*Working Capital, Inventory, and Cost Management*\n\n* Maintain visibility into cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, and other working-capital accounts to support liquidity and profitable operations.\n* Monitor receivables aging, customer credit exposure, deductions, and collections performance; partner with Sales and Customer Service to resolve material issues promptly.\n* Oversee inventory valuation, cycle-count and physical-inventory support, reserves, slow-moving or obsolete inventory, and inventory adjustments.\n* Maintain and improve standard-cost, actual-cost, landed-cost, and gross-margin analysis for manufactured and purchased products.\n* Partner with Operations, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Supply Chain to analyze purchase-price variances, freight, labor, scrap and yield, production variances, and inventory turns.\n\n*Controls, Compliance, and Risk Management*\n\n* Design, implement, document, and continuously improve internal controls that protect company assets and support reliable financial reporting.\n* Maintain appropriate approval workflows, segregation of duties, reconciliations, and audit trails across cash, purchasing, payables, receivables, inventory, payroll, and fixed assets.\n* Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local reporting, sales and use tax, payroll tax, and licensing requirements in coordination with external advisors.\n* Support practical financial policies for customer credit, vendor onboarding, purchasing authority, travel and expense, and other business processes.\n* Identify financial, operational, and systems risks; develop practical mitigations and promptly escalate material issues.\n\n*Systems, Process Improvement, and Team Leadership*\n\n* Maintain finance master data, reporting integrity, and finance workflows within SAP Business One or a similar ERP system.\n* Improve reporting automation, dashboards, data quality, and workflow efficiency while preserving strong financial controls.\n* Directly supervise and develop accounting and finance staff; provide coaching, performance feedback, cross-training, and development support.\n* Set clear expectations, establish effective routines, and hold the finance team accountable for accuracy, timeliness, service, and follow-through.\n* Work cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, Warehouse, Purchasing, Supply Chain, and Customer Service to standardize processes and improve the quality and flow of business information.\n* Lead or support special projects, systems improvements, acquisition or integration activity, and other business-improvement initiatives as needed.\n\n*Qualifications*\n\n*Required*\n\n* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.\n* Seven or more years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including responsibility for month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.\n* Three or more years in a Controller, Accounting Manager, Finance Manager, or comparable leadership role.\n* Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial-statement preparation, account reconciliation, cash-flow management, and internal-control fundamentals.\n* Demonstrated experience in a manufacturing, distribution, industrial, or inventory-intensive business environment.\n* Proficiency with ERP and accounting systems, preferably SAP Business One or similar, for financial reporting, inventory, purchasing, and operational analysis.\n* Advanced Excel and analytical capabilities, with the ability to communicate financial information clearly and practically to non-financial leaders.\n* Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands in a hands-on environment.\n\n*Preferred*\n\n* CPA, CMA, MBA, or comparable advanced professional qualification.\n* Experience with standard costing, manufacturing variances, inventory controls, and multi-location or multi-entity reporting.\n* Experience supporting international operations, intercompany accounting, or parent-company reporting.\n* Experience with ERP implementation, reporting automation, business intelligence, or process improvement.\n* Experience in irrigation, agriculture, plastics, light manufacturing, or a related industrial sector.\n\n*Performance Measures*\n\n* Accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.\n* Reliable financial reporting, reconciliations, forecasts, and management analysis.\n* Cash-flow performance, working-capital discipline, and receivables management.\n* Inventory accuracy, valuation integrity, margin visibility, and cost-control effectiveness.\n* Strength and consistency of internal controls, compliance, and audit readiness.\n* Timely identification and resolution of financial, operational, and systems issues.\n\n*Work Environment and Physical Requirements*\n\n* Primarily based in an office environment, with regular interaction across the warehouse, production floor, and business functions.\n* Ability to move throughout the facility as needed to support inventory, operations, and cross-functional activities.\n* Some flexibility is required to support month-end, year-end, budgeting, audit, urgent business issues, and occasional travel as needed.\n\n*Position Expectations*\n\n* Set the standard for integrity, financial discipline, confidentiality, and attention to detail.\n* Communicate clearly and consistently;
