TAP Transition & Employment Support SpecialistSupervisor: Director of Special ServicesContract Length: 209 DaysClassification: Non-Administrative Meet and ConferSalary: $47,116Job SummaryThe TAP Transition & Employment Support Specialist provides transition, employment, and independent living support services to students and young adults with disabilities (ages 1425). This position supports the development and implementation of individualized transition and employment plans in collaboration with the TAP Transition Team and Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services (IVRS). Services are delivered in school, community, and workplace settings to promote successful postsecondary and competitive employment outcomes.Essential FunctionsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.Assist in the development and implementation of individualized transition and employment plans, including IVRS Individual Plans for Employment (IPEs).Provide individualized job coaching and on-site training to support skill development and successful employment outcomes.Support students/job candidates in developing work readiness skills, including resume writing, job applications, interviewing, and onboarding.Assist with career exploration activities, including job shadows, work-based learning experiences, and postsecondary visits, as directed.Support development of independent living skills, including accessing community resources, transportation training, and completion of necessary forms and documentation.Monitor participant progress and collaborate with the TAP Transition Team and IVRS staff to adjust supports as needed.Develop task analyses and implement strategies aligned to individual needs and job expectations.Build and maintain collaborative relationships with students, families, staff, employers, and community partners.Communicate effectively with all stakeholders regarding participant progress and program expectations.Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including case notes, reports, and required data systems (e.g., Excel matrix, IRSS/IVRS systems).Assist with program coordination tasks, including scheduling, communication, and general clerical duties.Respond to challenges and crisis situations in a professional and timely manner.Transport students/job candidates to community-based instruction, job sites, and related activities as required.Promote a positive image of the TAP program and the Cedar Rapids Community School District.QualificationsRequired:Valid driver's license and ability to transport students/job candidatesBachelor's degree in Education, Human Services, Psychology, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experienceAbility to work independently and as part of a teamStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsPreferred:Experience working with individuals with disabilitiesExperience in transition services, vocational training, or job coachingJob Coaching CertificationKnowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesKnowledge of transition services, employment supports, and community resourcesUnderstanding of disabilities and appropriate accommodationsAbility to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgroundsAbility to collaborate within a multidisciplinary teamAbility to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlinesProficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Excel and data management systemsKnowledge of applicable federal, state, and district regulationsWorking Conditions / Physical RequirementsFrequent travel within the communityAbility to work in a variety of settings, including school, community, and job sitesFlexible schedule based on program needsAbility to safely transport students/job candidatesAN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYERThe Cedar Rapids Community School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
