Summary
GenMet Corp. is a value-added contract metal fabricator in Mequon, WI with a strong commitment to employee growth, customer satisfaction and community engagement. We are searching for an Estimator who will be responsible for preparing metal fabrication quotations by analyzing customer requirements, technical drawings and associated specifications. Understanding current (and evolving) capabilities, they will develop bills of material and routings with internal and external supply partners and support implementation of new programs. The Estimator works closely with Sales, Engineering and Operations to support our customers. They model and support our company culture and values, ensure estimating functions in a safe manner to deliver compelling quotes accurately and on-time. Duties and responsibilities
Lead, model and promote a culture of honesty, integrity, teamwork, responsibility, adaptability and continuous learning and improvement with the highest ethics
Ability to read and analyze blueprints, customer specifications and other documents to prepare time, material, and labor cost estimates
Ensure customers’ intellectual property is protected when information is shared with partners
Compute costs by identifying materials, purchased items, fabrication processes and time requirements using software and established rates.
Work with Purchasing to solicit and collect material costs.
Cultivate effective long-term relationships with Suppliers and Subcontractors.
Work with Engineering to identify optimal material utilization and fabrication methods.
Work with Operations to establish accurate fabrication rates and options for fabrication
Manage metrics for continuous improvement: activity, win/loss ratio, turnaround time and project and/or customer profitability.
Regularly review Job Costings to establish accuracy of estimates and estimating process.
Communicate variances and pursue alternatives to meet planned margin levels.
Review and recommend updates to work center rates and rate tables.
For large or unique quotes, coordinate initial order entry, manufacturing and fulfillment with Customer Service and Operations
Support compliance with ISO9001, ITAR, OSHA, DNR, other applicable standards and Non-Disclosure Agreements
Maintain the estimating records, supplier database and related documentation.
Oversee the planning and implementation of various projects.
Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications
Degree in manufacturing or supply chain preferred
3-5 years of estimating experience desired, 1-3 years of project management experience desired
Manufacturing experience and supplier relationships desired, metal fabrication experience preferred
Able to interpret and analyze customer blueprints, specifications and tolerances
Well organized, strong analytical skills, attention to detail and self-directed to complete tasks in a timely manner
Effectively communicates internally and externally to gather information, develop alternatives and pursue actions
Proficient in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (JobBOSS preferred) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Physical Requirements
Must be able to safely and successfully perform the job functions
Must be able to travel locally 5-10% of the time
Must be able to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 Lbs.
