This role provides hands-on experience in urban planning, transit operations, GIS, and cross-departmental collaboration to help advance key agency projects.\n\nWHAT YOU'LL BE DOING\nNote: The duties and primary responsibilities below are intended to describe the general content of and requirements of this job and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties.\nCoordinate with TOD and Service Planning teams to align planning documents, standards, and project needs\nUse ArcGIS and other analytical tools to create maps, conduct geospatial analysis, and support planning efforts\nSupport internal engagement, including meeting coordination, agenda setting, and detailed notetaking across departments\nConduct research and assist with drafting, writing, and editing planning documents, technical memos, presentations, reports, and grant (and other funding opportunities) applications\nSupport the TOD team across all major projects including preparing and procuring studies, materials, documentation, and technical assistance needed to advance a site(s) through the development process\nAssist with peer reviews of standards and best practices across agencies\nAssist with community engagement activities and represent CapMetro in neighborhood, local, and regional planning forums\nParticipate in field reviews related to bus stop improvements, route changes, or TOD site evaluations\nSubmit and manage creative requests with the marketing team to update graphics and materials\nDevelop responses to public inquiries, including customer call reports (CCRs)\nSupport CapMetro’s Safety Management Systems (SMS) by following all safety and security policies and reporting safety concerns\nPerform other duties as required and/or assigned\n\nWHAT YOU BRING\nCurrently enrolled in an accredited college/university with a major in Urban or Regional Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Geography, Business, Real Estate, or related field.\nExperience in transit and/or urban and regional planning\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:\nKnowledge of community and land use planning and transportation/transit planning\nExcellent research and analytical skills, including data analysis\nExcellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to make persuasive and clear presentations to both internal and external audiences\nStrong organizational skills\nMust have adept people skills and professional courteous behavior\nKnowledge of real estate, affordable housing, public-private partnerships preferred\n\nWORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS\nWork is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working conditions. This position works with multiple project timelines and is responsible for performing work of a complex nature.\n\nIncumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently throughout an eight-hour period, reach vertically for overhead use as well as horizontally. Must be able to use a telephone or headset equipment.\nIncumbents must be able to lift and move material weighing up to 20 lbs., perform work at a computer terminal for 6-8 hours a day, and function in an environment with constant interruptions.\n\nReasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disability to perform the essential functions as previously described.\nMobility Status:\nAs a Mobile position, the incumbent is expected to work in the office as needed. There will be access to touchdown/collaboration spaces when on site. Must be in-office for socialization, strategic collaboration, supervision, oversight, and accountability as needed.
