Tax Director

Tax Director (ASC 740 Focus)Service Specialists is partnering with a publicly traded manufacturing company to identify a Tax Director who will lead the company’s income tax reporting function, with a strong emphasis on ASC 740. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for ensuring accurate and timely tax provision reporting, supporting SEC filings, and partnering with executive leadership on tax strategy and risk management.This position is ideal for a technically strong tax professional who thrives in a fast-paced, publicly traded environment and enjoys leading both processes and people.Key ResponsibilitiesASC 740 & Tax ProvisionLead all aspects of the ASC 740 income tax provision process (quarterly and annual)Ensure accuracy of current and deferred tax calculations, including valuation allowances and uncertain tax positionsManage the preparation and review of tax-related disclosures for 10-K and 10-Q filingsOversee effective tax rate analysis, forecasting, and variance explanationsCompliance & ReportingOversee federal, state, and international tax compliance (in partnership with internal teams and external advisors)Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returnsMonitor changes in tax laws and assess impact to the organizationPlanning & StrategyPartner with senior leadership on tax planning initiatives and business decisionsIdentify opportunities to optimize the company’s tax position while maintaining complianceSupport M&A activity, including due diligence and integration from a tax perspectiveAudit & ControlsServe as the primary point of contact for external auditors on tax-related mattersMaintain and improve SOX controls over tax processesManage tax audits and respond to inquiries from taxing authoritiesLeadership & Process ImprovementLead, develop, and mentor the tax teamDrive process improvements, automation, and efficiencies within the tax functionCollaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Accounting, and Legal teamsQualificationsCPA requiredBachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (Master’s in Tax a plus)10+ years of progressive tax experience, including leadership experienceStrong expertise in ASC 740 and income tax accounting in a publicly traded environmentExperience with SEC reporting (10-K, 10-Q) and SOX complianceBig 4 public accounting experience strongly preferredBackground in manufacturing or a complex, multi-entity environment is a plusStrong analytical, communication, and leadership skillsWhy This OpportunityKey leadership role with direct visibility to executive leadershipOpportunity to lead and shape the tax function within a publicly traded companyCollaborative environment with a focus on continuous improvementCompetitive compensation, bonus, and comprehensive benefits package
