We have opportunities for you.\nCollins has an opening for a Construction Inspector/Field Technician in our Hampton, Virginia, office. This role offers the chance to work with industry leaders while using innovative technology. This position will provide the opportunity for growth, where continuing development and participation in professional societies will be encouraged and supported. The Construction Inspector/Field Technician is an integral part of the construction management team and will work under the guidance of the Project Leader (Resident Engineer).\nTypical Duties and Responsibilities:\nConducting inspections, scheduling, and oversight of heavy highway structural projects.\nSolve technical problems and steward solutions through the delivery process.\nResponsible for monitoring contractor conformance to quality, performance, and specifications for assigned construction activities.\nPerforms daily field inspections and maintains inspection records.\nAssists in the completion of reports.\nKeeps resident engineer informed of workload and any daily activities.\nIs active in technical societies.\nProactively interacts with the contractor to track crew work and equipment on the project.\nActively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety.\nField work required, which could include nights and weekends.\nOther duties may be assigned.\nRelocation is available\nClick HERE to see the variety of benefits Collins has to offer.\nEducation and/or Experience:\nA 2-year technical degree or experience in the trades. General engineering knowledge of staging, structural construction, electrical construction, utility construction, roadway construction, and bridge construction.\nExtensive use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and construction management databases/tracking software is required for this role.\nAbility to obtain certifications for material sampling/testing for aggregates, concrete, asphalt, grading, etc. (ACI, NICET, or state certifications)\nAbility to obtain certifications for inspection of roadways, bridges, coatings, etc. (NICET or state certifications)\nValid driver’s license.\nPhysical Demands:\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
