Instrument Man/Rodman

A land surveying firm with offices in Panama City and Bristol (Florida) serving Panama City, Bristol & surrounding areas has openings for experienced field crew members. Rate of pay commiserate with experience. Reliable transportation and a drivers license are a plus. We are currently working 4 ten-hour days per week: Monday thru Thursday. Work on Fridays or the weekend may occasionally be required. This position maintains and operates all instruments and measuring devices needed to complete different types of survey work assignments. Duties will include: Work as a member of a survey crew performing boundary, topography, ALTA, right-of-way, and construction surveys for public and private clients. Transport/setup of field equipment. Operate survey instruments virtually every day with little or no supervision, while striving to increase speed and accuracy Perform Coordinate Geometry (COGO) functions such as inverse, resection, stake a line, translate and rotate coordinates in the field Make field book notes and sketches of data gathered at job site Call out reading or writes station number and reading in notebook Mark points of measurement with elevation, station number, or other identifying mark Measure distance between survey points with steel tape, cloth tape or electronic instruments Mark measuring points with keel (marking crayon), paint sticks, scratches, tacks, or stakes Occasional lifting/carrying up to 40 pounds. Pounding hubs and stakes, walking 2+ miles, traversing obstacles such as creeks, fences, etc. Use of tools to include machetes, shovels, hammers, sledge etc. Other duties as assigned.
