This role supports the development and maintenance of scalable, secure web applications and APIs that power a mission-critical data platform used by government stakeholders and external partners.\nThe ideal candidate is a collaborative engineer with strong backend development experience, a passion for clean and maintainable code, and comfort working in Agile and DevSecOps environments.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign and architect backend software applications supporting a modern, data-centric platform\nDevelop, maintain, and optimize scalable, high-performance applications using Node.js\nBuild and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate with external data sources\nImplement reusable, modular components and support state management strategies\nPerform unit and end-to-end testing using tools such as Postman\nParticipate in peer code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices\nCollaborate closely with senior engineers, UI/UX designers, QA teams, and stakeholders in an Agile/Scrum environment\nDebug, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues\nContribute to technical documentation, including system design, APIs, and workflows\nSupport CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions\nRequirements:\nEducation\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field\nOR\nSix (6) years of equivalent professional experience in place of a degree\nRequired Qualifications\nMinimum 3 years of experience as a backend Software Engineer\nProficiency with Node.js, RESTful APIs, GitHub, AWS, and API Gateway\nExperience working in Agile/Scrum and DevSecOps environments\nHands-on experience with Jira and Confluence\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills\nAbility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Public Trust clearance (fingerprinting required)\nDesired Qualifications\nExperience developing APIs using Node.js and Express\nFamiliarity with AWS services such as S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, and API Gateway\nExposure to Docker and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes\nUnderstanding of application security best practices, including OAuth and JWT\nFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)\nPrior experience supporting federal government projects\nAdditional Information\nClearance: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.\nBackground checks may include Criminal History, Education Verification, Employment Verification, Professional Certifications, and Credit History.
