SPECIAL PROSECUTOR TOWN OF ESOPUS, NEW YORK NOTICE OF OPENING – SPECIAL PROSECUTOR (VEHICLE & TRAFFIC COURT) The Town of Esopus, Ulster County, New York, is seeking a qualified attorney to serve as Special Prosecutor for the Town’s Vehicle and Traffic Court. The Special Prosecutor will be responsible for prosecuting Vehicle and Traffic Law matters in the Town Court and will appear approximately two (2) evenings per month and approximately 2 hours per session, as scheduled by the Court. Qualifications: • Admission to practice law in the State of New York, in good standing • Experience prosecuting Vehicle and Traffic Law matters and/or criminal matters preferred • Familiarity with Town Court procedures • Ability to work independently and professionally with the Court, Court Clerk, and law enforcement agencies Position Details: • Contractual appointment • Evening court appearances (approximately two nights per month and approximately 2 hours per session) • Compensation to be determined by the Town Board, commensurate with experience Application Process: Interested applicants should submit: • A letter of interest • Resume Materials should be submitted to: Town of Esopus Attn: Town Supervisor 1 Town Hall Way Ulster Park, NY 12487 or by email to supervisor@esopus.com Applications will be accepted until February 15, 2026.
