Instrument and Electrical Supervisor

At bp, we are seeking a highly motivated Instrument & Electrical (I&E) Supervisor to join our team at the Whiting Refinery. In this role, you will lead the safe and efficient execution of maintenance activities, ensuring the reliability and availability of refinery operations.You will provide daily direction to the I&E team, champion continuous improvement, and collaborate cross-functionally to optimize maintenance resources. This position is critical in driving high-quality, proactive maintenance while fostering a strong safety culture and strong team performance.We are looking for a proactive leader who energizes teams and drives results, with the ability to make sound decisions that prioritize safety and operational performance. The ideal candidate is adaptable and collaborative, brings a continuous improvement mindset, and has a strong passion for developing people and advancing operational excellence.Key AccountabilitiesLead and support safe, reliable, and high-quality maintenance execution in alignment with bp valuesSet clear daily priorities and direction for the I&E teamCoach, develop, and manage team performance through active leadership and engagementCollaborate with Planning, Scheduling, Reliability, Maintenance Engineering, and Operations to improve resource utilizationDrive continuous improvement using Agile tools and standard processesDevelop and implement improved job methods, tools, and maintenance techniquesEnsure minimal rework and high-quality execution of maintenance activitiesMonitor work progress and resolve or call out barriers to schedule completionCoordinate work permits and ensure compliance with safety proceduresLead weekly scheduling and status meetings with asset teamsMaintain accurate maintenance records (paper and digital systems such as SAP/BPW)Support turnaround (TAR) planning and execution activitiesProvide technical guidance and support for electrical systems and instrumentationTrack and manage KPIs, including budget and performance metricsPromote a clean, safe, and compliant work environmentParticipate in safety verification activities and leadership-in-the-field initiativesProvide coverage for other supervisors as needed, including off-shift or weekend assignmentsRequired QualificationsExperience in electrical and/or instrumentation maintenance and leadership or supervisory experienceStrong background in maintenance and reliability practicesProven success in driving continuous improvement within maintenance operationsExperience in a multifaceted, fast-paced industrial environmentTechnical ExpertiseLow, medium, and high voltage systems (breakers, contactors)Power distribution transformers (operation, testing, maintenance)Electrical system testing procedures and equipmentNFPA 70E standards and electrical safety practicesTroubleshooting and diagnostic skillsAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and standardsAdditional SkillsStrong leadership, coaching, and team development skillsWorkforce planning and scheduling experienceBasic cost control and budgeting knowledgeFamiliarity with union work environmentsStrong communication and problem-solving abilitiesProficiency with systems such as SAP, Meridium, Beamex, and Microsoft OfficePreferred QualificationsAssociate degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering TechnologyAdvanced knowledge of work permitting and risk assessment processesWhy Join bpAt bp, safety is at the core of everything we do.
