Journeyman Pipefitter
The Journeyman Pipefitter Refrigeration is responsible for performing skilled, journeyman level pipefitting work related to the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial refrigeration systems. This role supports supermarket and commercial refrigeration operations, including single systems, parallel rack systems, display cases, and walk-in coolers/freezers. Work is performed independently or as part of a crew while adhering to all applicable safety regulations, labor agreements, and industry standards.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesInstall, assemble, modify, and repair refrigeration piping systems, including carbon steel, copper, and specialty piping used in commercial refrigeration applicationsPerform journeyman-level maintenance and repair of refrigeration-related piping, valves, fittings, and supports associated with rack systems, display cases, and walk-in boxesAssist in system troubleshooting by identifying piping-related issues affecting system performance, pressure, or refrigerant flowPerform leak detection, isolation, and corrective pipe repairs in accordance with EPA and safety requirementsInterpret and work from blueprints, schematics, isometrics, and piping diagramsCoordinate work with refrigeration technicians, electricians, and other trades as requiredComplete assigned service calls and maintenance work in a professional manner that meets customer and company standardsMaintain accurate service documentation, including notes and photos, for all assigned workComply with all company policies, jobsite procedures, and union work rulesMaintain a clean, organized work area and company vehicle or assigned toolsTravel to various job sites as requiredPerform other related duties within the scope of the pipefitter trade as assignedRequired Skills And QualificationsExperience working with commercial or supermarket refrigeration piping systemsDemonstrated knowledge of refrigeration piping practices, materials, and jointing methodsFamiliarity with rack refrigeration systems and energy management controls (including Novar, CPC, and Danfoss or similar systems)Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality standardsStrong communication and time management skillsAbility to follow established procedures and detailed work instructionsCommitment to safe work practices and jobsite safety complianceCertifications and EducationHigh school diploma or GED preferredEPA Refrigerant Handling Certification preferredValid state driver’s license required and must be maintainedAdditional trade certifications or safety training preferredPhysical Requirements And Working ConditionsRegularly required to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, reach, push, and pullMust be able to lift, carry, and handle materials weighing up to 75 poundsWork is performed in commercial and industrial environments, including refrigerated spacesExposure to moderate noise levels and varying temperaturesAdditional InformationThis job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
