Working within established change management, security, and maintenance procedures, this individual will deploy operating system updates, firmware upgrades, and security patches across servers, virtualization platforms, storage systems, and enterprise network infrastructure.\nIn addition to remediation activities, this role will support operational maturity by maintaining accurate asset inventories, developing standardized procedures, documenting lessons learned, and creating transition-ready documentation to support ongoing infrastructure operations.\nPrimary Responsibilities\nInventory Verification & Remediation Planning\nReconcile physical, virtual, and network assets against authoritative inventory systems to identify missing, inactive, unsupported, or non-reporting devices.\nReview vulnerability assessments, patch compliance dashboards, vendor advisories, and platform dependencies to prioritize remediation efforts.\nDevelop phased deployment strategies, maintenance schedules, pilot groups, testing procedures, and rollback plans.\nTrack and document patching exceptions related to legacy systems, hardware limitations, or business-critical constraints, including required mitigation plans or risk acceptance documentation.\nPatch Deployment & Execution\nDeploy operating system patches and platform updates across Windows and Linux server environments using enterprise patch management and configuration tools.\nApply upgrades and maintenance to virtualization platforms, storage systems, backup solutions, load balancers, and infrastructure management components following established procedures.\nCoordinate and execute firmware and software updates across network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, wireless platforms, and related management systems.\nValidation & Troubleshooting\nVerify backups, snapshots, system health, capacity thresholds, network configurations, and rollback readiness prior to implementing changes.\nPerform post-change validation to confirm system availability, application functionality, network connectivity, security services, and platform performance.\nTroubleshoot patching failures, agent communication issues, configuration inconsistencies, pending reboots, and compliance gaps to achieve targeted remediation objectives.\nChange Management & Operational Governance\nCreate, document, schedule, and close change records, including implementation plans, testing results, rollback procedures, and supporting documentation.\nExecute work within approved maintenance windows while proactively communicating risks, blockers, and critical issues.\nCollaborate with infrastructure, security, application, and operations teams to ensure adherence to security standards and least-privilege access principles.\nDocumentation & Service Transition\nMaintain centralized tracking of patching activities, asset ownership, target versions, compliance status, timelines, and outcomes.\nDevelop and enhance operational runbooks for discovery, validation, deployment, troubleshooting, and escalation processes.\nPrepare transition documentation, including open risks, outstanding remediation efforts, support procedures, and knowledge transfer materials for long-term support teams.\nExpected Deliverables\nValidated Asset Inventory: Reconciled inventory of in-scope systems, ownership, criticality, dependencies, and version baselines.\nPatching & Remediation Plan: Prioritized remediation backlog with deployment schedules, maintenance windows, and reporting reflecting patch compliance, vulnerability reduction, outstanding issues, and remediation progress.\nTransition Documentation: Updated runbooks, support documentation, escalation procedures, and knowledge transfer assets to support ongoing operations.\nRequired Qualifications\n3+ years of hands-on experience in infrastructure engineering, systems administration, network operations, or related IT support roles.\nExperience deploying operating system updates and security patches across Windows Server and Linux environments.\nProficiency with enterprise patch management, configuration management, and software deployment tools.\nWorking knowledge of virtualization platforms, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, backup solutions, storage systems, and certificate management.\nUnderstanding of network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, VPN technologies, high-availability architectures, and change-control processes.\nExperience documenting and executing infrastructure changes within formal change-management frameworks.\nAbility to work flexible schedules, including evening or weekend maintenance windows when required.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience managing and updating enterprise networking, security, virtualization, storage, backup, or end-user computing platforms.\nFamiliarity with vulnerability management, asset management, monitoring, ticketing, and IT service management tools.\nExperience supporting distributed enterprise environments, including multi-site operations, warehousing, retail, manufacturing, healthcare, or large-scale corporate infrastructure.\nScripting and automation experience using PowerShell, Python, Ansible, or similar technologies.\nExposure to public cloud platforms and hybrid infrastructure
