Instructional Designer (Leadership Development)

Job DescriptionOur client is seeking an experienced Leadership Development Instructional Designer to partner with an internal Program Manager in designing and developing leadership learning solutions for both current and emerging leaders.This role will focus on creating engaging instructor-led learning experiences that build foundational leadership capabilities among long-tenured leaders who have not previously participated in formal leadership development programs. The consultant will also help design a leadership pipeline program for emerging and high-potential talent preparing for future leadership opportunities.The majority of content will be developed from the ground up, requiring strong instructional design expertise, leadership development knowledge, and the ability to effectively collaborate with subject matter experts.Key Responsibilities:Design and develop instructor-led leadership development programs for current and emerging leaders.Create a Leadership 101 curriculum focused on foundational leadership capabilities.Develop leadership readiness content for emerging and high-potential employees.Partner closely with the internal Program Manager to define learning objectives, program structure, and deliverables.Conduct SME interviews and synthesize information into engaging learning experiences.Create facilitator guides, participant materials, and supporting learning assets.Design interactive ILT experiences that drive learner engagement and practical application.Provide recommendations regarding learning strategy, content structure, and instructional approaches.Manage SME relationships effectively and guide stakeholders through the content development process.Ensure all deliverables are completed on schedule and aligned with business objectives.Start Date: Mid-JulyDuration: estimated 6-month engagement with possibility of extensionHours: anticipated to be 40 hours per weekLocation: Pasadena, CA (Onsite 4 days per week – must be within a commutable distance)Required ExperienceStrong instructional design experience with a demonstrated ability to create instructor-led training programs.Deep expertise in leadership development, including programs for both experienced leaders and emerging/high-potential leaders.Experience designing highly interactive classroom and facilitator-led learning experiences.Proven ability to partner with stakeholders and manage SME relationships effectively.Experience creating facilitator guides, participant guides, and supporting learning materials.Strong consulting, communication, and project management skills.Experience using Articulate Storyline.Preferred ExperienceExperience within construction, HVAC, plumbing, or related skilled-trades industries.Experience designing leadership programs in operational, field-based, or industrial environments.Background supporting enterprise leadership development initiatives.Familiarity with modern learning methodologies and AI-enabled content development workflows.
