The Senior Structural Engineer may work on several projects concurrently.\nThe Senior Structural Engineer has gained extensive experience in all areas of structural awareness and design. This position requires technical expertise and project management responsibility.\nTypical Duties\nThe following duties are typical of the position but are not all encompassing. Each person is expected to help out in whatever duties are required to deliver a quality product on schedule.\nAssess the requirements of a project, break a project into tasks, and work with a Principal to determine scope of work, budget and staffing.\nWrite scope of work for structural design for new or existing structural systems.\nPrepare engineering studies and schematic design based on preliminary review and meetings with the client.\nKnowledge of applicable building codes. Work with code officials and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to building codes is required.\nAssign and review work of project design team. Check progress of work and alert Principals to change scope or additional services.\nHas a thorough understanding of construction process.\nCoordinate all aspects of project document completion within company and externally with clients and other design professionals. Proficient written and oral communications skills.\nPromote use of and participate in development of company design and production standards.\nAssist in the education and development of design staff and act as a resource for design questions.\nMaintain neat and organized work area which allows efficient access to project information required by other team members.\nKnowledge and Experience Required\n6 to 8 years’ previous design experience.\nBachelors of Engineering Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
