We design, manufacture, and operate our own balloons, using the data they collect to generate otherwise unattainable weather intelligence.\r\nWe're hiring a Senior Full-Stack / Security Software Engineer to own core, security-forward infrastructure. You will build robust systems that can handle business-critical needs around data delivery, flight tracking, and other operational demands. You must be fluent with government-compliant requirements as you will be the core owner ensuring internal systems can serve our growing contractual obligations.\r\nWe are a small team handling all the software that keeps our entire constellation in the air. Development speed and robustness/security/stability are not mutually exclusive; we value pragmatic decisions, high autonomy, low egos, and a willingness to get your hands muddy in the dirt.\r\nResponsibilities\r\nData pipeline integrity — Balloon observations flow from satellite downlinks through processing workers into customer-facing APIs. Ensuring this pipeline is reliable, tamper-evident, and correctly permissioned is as important as making it fast.\r\nArchitecting core infrastructure to support projects requiring clearance.\r\nSkills and Qualifications\r\nYou'd be a good fit if you:\r\nHave built and shipped full-stack applications — fluency and comfort working with Ruby on Rails, Postgres, or the ability to quickly and pragmatically learn on the job.\r\nYou've been responsible for 24/7 uptime systems. You can implement pragmatic best practices forged from real-world, experienced pain of handling such a system.\r\nHave worked in environments where data sensitivity was a real constraint — healthcare, defense, fintech, infrastructure, or similar.\r\nHave experience with role-based access control, secrets management, or data classification in production systems.\r\nWant to work in-person in Redwood Shores, CA with a small team where your decisions have immediate, visible impact.\r\nParts of this role may involve work on U.S. government contracts or export-controlled systems.
