As an Optometric Technician, you'll work alongside the Optometrists to support all aspects of patient care and education, ensuring that patients receive exceptional care.\r\nThe Optometric Technician conducts pre-testing procedures, assists with specialty diagnostic testing, performs post-exam tasks, and manages the doctor’s appointment schedule to ensure every patient receives an efficient, high-quality experience from start to finish.Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist, such as dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, Optomap, auto reflector, visual acuity, etc.\r\nPerforms verbal interview with patient prior to visit with Optometrist to determine medical issues and reasons for their visit to provide details to Optometrist.\r\nMay be required to schedule referral appointments with Ophthalmologists, Diagnostic follow-up visits, and other specialty referrals, and complete paperwork.\r\nRecords and maintain patient records / files in compliance with company, federal, and state policies (HIPAA).\r\nResponds to patient telephone inquiries regarding medication, treatment, problems referring to the Optometrist as necessary.\r\nMay be required to perform diagnostic testing using specialty equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera. Etc.).\r\nDocuments medical findings and communication between Optometrist and patient in Electronic Health Records(EHR) and assist with clerical duties related to medical documentation (participating practices only).
