Corporate Vice President, Customer Data & Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Services

Location Location Designation: Fully Remote. Preferred locations include Dallas (TX), Bethlehem (PA), Philadelphia (PA), Chattanooga (TN), and Iowa. Role Overview The Corporate Vice President (CVP), Data Exchange & Customer Data Services leads the strategy, execution, and optimization of EDI and data exchange operations supporting benefits administration and carrier connectivity. The role oversees inbound and outbound EDI implementations and ongoing production support, ensuring accurate, timely, and secure data exchange between benefits administration platforms, carriers, clients, and third‑party vendors. The CVP manages multiple managers and their teams across inbound EDI, outbound EDI, and production support, driving operational excellence at scale with consistency, standardization, and high quality across all functions. What You’ll Do Strategic Leadership & Transformation Define and execute a multi‑year strategy for data exchange, customer data services, and integration aligned with GBS business goals. Lead enterprise transformation initiatives, including API enablement, automation, and platform modernization. Establish a forward‑looking integration strategy across EDI, APIs, and hybrid models. Drive change management efforts to ensure adoption and sustained value realization. Monitor industry trends (benefits tech, EDI standards, integration patterns) to inform innovation and competitive positioning. Data Exchange & Integration Strategy Own the roadmap for inbound and outbound data exchange across benefits administration platforms, carriers, clients, and TPAs. Design scalable, secure integration frameworks in partnership with Technology and Enterprise Architecture. Standardize data formats, mapping practices, validation rules, and integration patterns. Translate business requirements into technical solutions that align with system capabilities. Operational Excellence & Execution Oversee end‑to‑end data exchange operations, including inbound EDI implementations, outbound EDI implementations, and production support (monitoring, reconciliation, issue resolution). Ensure achievement of KPIs, SLAs, and client experience metrics. Establish scalable frameworks for file intake, validation, exception handling, and support. Drive continuous improvement, automation, and digitization to reduce manual effort and operational risk. Lead root cause analysis and systemic issue resolution. Client & Partner Experience Champion a consultative approach to client, carrier, and TPA engagement. Ensure seamless onboarding, implementation, and in‑force service experiences. Enhance data integration experiences through standardized yet flexible solutions. Minimize disruption and ensure data accuracy, timeliness, and integrity across all exchanges. Technology Partnership & Delivery Partner closely with IT, Ben Tech, and PMO to define, prioritize, and deliver system integrations, automation solutions, and data exchange enhancements. Act as a key stakeholder in enterprise roadmap planning and system design. Drive adoption of modern integration capabilities, including APIs and middleware platforms. Leadership & Talent Development Lead a multi‑layered organization, including managers and teams across EDI, data exchange, and support functions. Build high‑performing teams with strong technical, operational, and consultative capabilities. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Lead organizational design and workforce planning aligned to future‑state capabilities. Cross‑Functional Collaboration Partner with Product, Implementation, Operations, Carrier Relations, and Client Services teams to deliver integrated solutions. Serve as a key liaison between business and technology organizations. Influence stakeholders to adopt new processes, tools, and ways of working. Financial & Performance Management Own budget, resource allocation, and expense management for the function. Define and track KPIs, SLAs, and operational performance metrics. Develop business cases for technology investments and transformation initiatives. Provide executive‑level reporting on performance, risks, and opportunities. What You’ll Bring 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in data exchange, operations, or technology‑driven environments. Proven experience leading large‑scale transformation initiatives (data strategy, integration, modernization). Deep expertise in EDI (inbound/outbound implementations, production support). Proficient with data exchange formats and standards (e.g., LDEx, BEM, proprietary formats). Experience with integration architectures (file‑based, API, hybrid). Leading multi‑level teams and driving alignment through leaders. Strong partnership experience with IT and PMO organizations. Expertise in process optimization, automation, and operational excellence frameworks. Strong understanding of benefits administration platforms, carrier systems, and data ecosystems. Knowledge of data governance, security, and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA). Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Preferred Experience in insurance, employee benefits, or healthcare industries. Familiarity with integration platforms, middleware, and API ecosystems. Certifications in project management or process improvement (PMP, Lean, Six Sigma). Overtime eligible: Exempt. Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes. Sales bonus eligible: No. Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, qualifications, and job location.
