Embedded Linux Software Engineer

Our client is seeking a Linux Software Engineer to join their team. As a key member of the team, you'll have an integral role in designing, implementing, and testing next generation of intraoral 3D scanners. You will be expected to work within an experienced software development team, participate in technical design reviews, develop innovative solutions, write unit tests, and debug both new and existing code. Also, you will work with a cross-disciplinary experienced team to influence and maximize the benefits of generation of scanning hardware.Essential Duties:Design and write embedded software code according to prescribed specificationsWrite code for Linux based application processors including peripheral driversBecome familiar with scanning technologies and software applicationsDevelop prototypes to validate suitability of new hardware / firmware / softwareImplement embedded system and interpret error reportsDevelop embedded software for functional test equipment for manufacturingTest software for scalability and structureFix bugs and optimize systemSupport manufacturing and technical support groups to sustain production and resolve field issuesCollaborate with development team to integrate new hardware into existing applicationsMeet company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and proceduresAdheres to company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignmentsPerforms other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:Training and ExperienceBachelor or master’s degree in electrical engineering/computer science/computer engineering or relevant industry experience.Must have experience in developing Linux kernel and user space applicationsFamiliarity with managing custom Linux kernel builds (Yocto, BitBake, etc)Must be familiar with applicable codes, standards, and acceptable industry practices.Must be able to read electronic schematics.Must have excellent communication skills and be capable of interacting with other engineering disciplines, managers, manufacturing and support personnel.Able to work effectively on project teams consisting of departmental and/or cross functional personnel.Experience with developing products with international agency compliance (FCC, UL, RoHS) is a plus.Familiarity with motion controllers, DC/AC Motor Drive Circuitry, and CCD cameras is a plus.Salary: $160,000 per year + benefits.About The CompanyPeterson Technology Partners (PTP) is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to creating a transparent, inclusive, and human-centered hiring experience.For more than 28 years, PTP has operated as one of the top IT staffing and recruiting firms in the USA—built on trust, long-term partnerships, and technical excellence.Based in the Chicago suburb of Park Ridge, IL, our team of more than 500 employees and consultants is dedicated to:Helping every client make the best hiring decisions possibleMatching professionals with the right IT jobs and career opportunitiesAs part of that commitment, we believe in providing clear information about how our hiring technologies work and how your data is used.
