{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"d9f4b4ba09151024e9af30e9","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/d9f4b4ba09151024e9af30e9","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/d9f4b4ba09151024e9af30e9","title":"Pipefitter","description":"CST Mechanical, Inc.\n\nHampton, VA\n\nJOB SUMMARY: Pipefitters are responsible for performing lay out, fabrication, assembly, installation and maintenance of piping systems, pipe supports, fixtures, and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, and other commercial HVAC systems.\n\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nSelects type and size of pipe and related materials and equipment, such as supports and hangers, according to job specifications.\nInspects worksite to determine presence of obstructions.\nPlans sequence on installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other trades.\nCuts pipe using hacksaw, pipe cutter, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, grinder, and pipe cutting machine.\nThreads pipe using threading machine.\nMounts pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceiling to hold pipe.\nAssembles and installs a variety of metal or nonmetal pipes and pipe fittings, using threaded, soldered, brazed, fused, or welded joints.\nSecures pipes to structure with bracket, clamps, and hangers, using hand and power tools.\nInstalls refrigeration and air conditioning systems, including pumps, cooling towers, air handlers, and hydronic and piping,\nTests piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks.\nWelds pipe supports to structural steel members.\nLoads, transports and unloads material, tools, equipment and supplies.\nAssists in lifting, positioning and securing of material and work pieces during installation.\nPerforms minor maintenance of cleaning activities of tools and equipment.\nResponsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.\nUses respiratory protection when required.\nResponsible for all other duties as assigned.\n\nQUALIFICATIONS:\n\nMinimum of five (5) years Pipefitter experience required.\nMust have working knowledge of all trade materials and tools.\nStrong customer service skills.\nMust be self-motivated and a great communicator.\nAbility to communicate professionally at all levels of the organization and with external contacts.\nMust be able to work nights and weekends.\nGood driving record preferred.\n\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None\n\nEDUCATION/TRAINING: OSHA 10 Certification required.\n\nACCOUNTABILITY:\n\nMust comply with all company policies and procedures.\nAccountable for safety and health and are empowered to stop work if an unsafe condition is present. Employees should immediately notify their supervisor so that the hazard may be corrected.\n\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:\n\nThe physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
