Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist - ContractLocation: Nashua, New HampshireFacility: St. Joseph Hospital - NashuaDuration: 13 WeeksStart Date: May 18, 2026Position OverviewSt. Joseph Hospital is seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist to support surgical services in a fast-paced operating room environment. This role is essential in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality intraoperative care.The Surgical Technologist will apply expertise in sterile and aseptic techniques while collaborating closely with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia teams to optimize patient outcomes.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring all instruments and equipment are sterile and functioning properlyMaintain strict adherence to aseptic and infection control standardsAssist surgeons and the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments and suppliesPerform accurate instrument, sponge, and sharp countsSupport patient positioning and ensure safety throughout surgical proceduresIdentify and resolve equipment or procedural issues promptlyCollaborate effectively with RN staff and other surgical team membersAssist anesthesia and OR team during critical or emergency situationsMaintain patient confidentiality and minimize unnecessary exposure and environmental disruptionsParticipate in maintaining and updating surgical preference cardsSupport training and onboarding of new staff when neededComplete required competencies, in-services, and continuing education QualificationsEducation:Associate degree preferred Certifications:Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred (NBSTSA)Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Experience:Minimum 3 years of Surgical Technologist experience required Skills & CompetenciesStrong knowledge of surgical procedures and instrumentationExpertise in sterile technique and infection control practicesAbility to anticipate surgeon needs during proceduresExcellent attention to detail and organizational skillsEffective communication and teamwork abilitiesAbility to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations ScheduleDay shiftsHoliday coverage not requiredOn-call responsibilities may apply per facility policy Additional Information36 guaranteed hours per weekUp to 16 hours of orientation may be unpaidFacility reserves the right to cancel up to 3 shifts during the contractNo state license required
