Automotive Technician

Overview Automotive Student Technician is a role within an automotive organization. This position is responsible for supporting vehicle inspections, maintenance, and repair activities while gaining hands-on experience in automotive diagnostics and service operations. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, comfortable working in a shop environment, and interested in building a long-term automotive career. Job Duties Assist experienced technicians with vehicle inspections, maintenance, and repair tasks Perform basic automotive services including oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid top-offs Support diagnostic activities for mechanical and electrical systems using shop tools and equipment Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Follow established safety procedures and PPE requirements at all times Properly operate and care for shop tools and equipment Document completed work and communicate findings to supervising technicians Participate in ongoing technical training and skill development activities Qualifications Required Basic understanding of automotive systems and vehicle components Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record Ability to safely use basic hand tools and maintain a personal toolbox Familiarity with automotive maintenance procedures and shop safety practices Currently pursuing or recently completed automotive technical training or related education Ability to work in an automotive repair or fleet maintenance environment Basic knowledge of vehicle diagnostic equipment and repair processes Ability to follow technical instructions and repair procedures Previous hands-on automotive experience through school, internships, or personal projects Exposure to vehicle diagnostics and electrical troubleshooting Familiarity with OEM service procedures and repair documentation Experience performing routine maintenance services Recent graduate from an automotive technology program Understanding of automotive repair shop workflow and operations Note: Blue Chip Talent is an award-winning, woman-owned talent solutions provider based in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
