TITLE Orientation & Mobility Specialist CLASSIFICATION Teacher Licensure Level I, II, III DEPARTMENT Educational Development Center WORK HOURS 7.5 hours per day CONTRACT LENGTH 203 Days GMCS employees Current Transfer Request Form needs to be signed by supervisor and uploaded to your application. Supervisor Director of Special Education ORIENTATION & MOBILITY SPECIALIST Must hold an Orientation and Mobility Specialist license. See below for the requirements. Responsibilities: Provide direct services to students with IEPs related to orientation and mobility for students of the visually impaired. Ensure that students' IEPs are current in regards to services and that the goals and objectives are monitored for progress. Complete all needed documents to meet compliance and participate in all required meetings, trainings, and complete other duties, as assigned. ORIENTATION AND MOBILITY SPECIALISTS, PRE K-12 Licensure Requirements Possess certification from the Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired OR Possess certification from the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals Applicants must have a BA degree and possess or have ability to obtain a New Mexico teaching license (New Mexico has an alternative licensure program for applicants who possess a BA degree or higher). Terms of Employment Salary and work calendar established yearly by the district. All GMCS schools are eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF).
