Functions as mentor to security supervisors and officers.\nResponsible for supervision of fire prevention/protection and emergency response activities including Incipient Stage firefighting personnel.\nReports to Site Security Management.\nAssures compliance with applicable General Motors Fire Prevention/ Protection Manual as well as National Fire Prevention/ Protection standards and regulations.\nConducts quarterly and annual review questions, as assigned, utilizing the Security Compliance System. Maintains associated Corrective Actions and Recommendations.\nMaintains a functional understanding of Security operations, policies and procedures.\nInterfaces with and provides fire prevention / protection guidance to management, appropriated General Motors personnel, regulatory agencies, including local and state fire authorities.\nDevelops, implements, and supports programs for site-specific training as well as fire and safety related monthly exercises. Training may include fire suppression systems maintenance and testing, fire prevention, hot work permit issuance, emergency response planning, etc., as required by Government regulations and General Motors standards and guidelines.\nEnsures that pertinent training, inspection and maintenance records are in compliance with appropriate regulatory agencies and General Motors / policies and procedures.\nAudits facilities for compliance with General Motors policies and procedures regarding fire prevention/ protection issues and ensures consistency.\nCoordinates fire equipment inspection/ certification activities on site with the assures all records are maintained and in compliance with the required standards.\nCoordinates all impairments to fire protection systems and/or equipment to ensure that they are handled promptly and correctly. Assures all records are maintained and in compliance with required standards.\nMay be responsible for research, obtaining quotes and entering information into GM purchase/procurement system to support replacement fire equipment or supplies according to local General Motors procedures.\nWhere assigned (not common), may be responsible for structural firefighting operations, confined space rescue programs, and/or Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).\nAs assigned (not common) responsible for structural stage fire brigade training, emergency response and safety preparedness drills.\nParticipates in Loss Prevention Survey.\nResponds to emergencies as outlined in local procedures.\nParticipates in pre-emergency planning and assists in the implementation of the emergency plans with both facilities and outside emergency organizations. Coordinates fire department visits to the facility.\nAssures that all fire and related AIMS reports are completed and forwarded to the designated personnel. Identifies trends and ensures that appropriate corrective action is communicated and taken. Completes and provides follow up as needed.\nAttends meetings with plant management, engineering, quality assurance personnel and others regarding general inquiries from plant personnel to ensure proper fire prevention and protection requirements during new construction, planned renovations and demolition.\nEnsures hot work permit process is properly administered and maintained.\nMay supervise security staff in fire functions.\nMakes recommendations on managerial methods in order to improve workflow, simplify reporting procedures or implement cost reductions.\nMaintain data and records following General Motors Record Retention guidelines and requirements.\nCarries out all duties in an honest ethical manner.\nQualifications:\nMinimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent. (Any deviations from the minimum educational requirement must meet the approval of General Motors Global Security.)\nFive years of progressively responsible, security related experience required- seven years preferred.\nDemonstrated understanding of security operations required\nAbility to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under general supervision.\nAbility to organize workload for effective implementation.\nStrong analytical skills needed to analyze complex data and develop reasonable analysis, appropriate conclusions and/ or innovative solutions.\nDemonstrates planning, organizational and project management skills.\nDemonstrates verbal and written communication skills.\nStrong managerial skills and the ability to assert oneself.\nAbility to act decisively in emergency situations.\nAbility to physically respond to all medical emergencies.\nAbility to assist in facilitating progressive change.\nAbility to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures.\nAbility to be an effective team member.\nStrong diplomacy skills and sensitivity protocol.\nDemonstrated ability to work autonomously and utilize sound judgment.\nWorking knowledge of card access, security, and safety systems.\nDemonstrated excellent computer ability (Microsoft programs).\nKnowledge of English language is minimum.\nKnowledge of multiple languages is beneficial but not required\nVeterans:\nInter-Con is passionate about hiring veterans.
