Electrical Subject Matter Expert

Meta is seeking an Electrical Subject Matter Expert to support the design, operation, and continuous improvement of electrical infrastructure across its global data center portfolio. In this role, you will serve as a technical authority on high-voltage and medium-voltage power systems, uninterruptible power supplies, switchgear, transformers, and critical power distribution architectures that underpin Meta's hyperscale computing infrastructure. You will drive long-term electrical strategy, influence standards development, and partner with engineering, construction, and operations teams to ensure the reliability, safety, and efficiency of data center electrical systems at scale.Minimum Qualifications8+ years relevant electrical industry experience or electrical trade level experienceBachelor's degree or trade certification in related field plus 4+ years relevant electrical industry experience will be considered in lieu of 8+ years relevant electrical industry experienceWorking knowledge of critical facility operations with experience or understanding of procedure-based workTheoretical and practical understanding of power equipment & systems, with expertise in electrical equipment design, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and/or constructionWorking knowledge of mechanical, controls, and fire and life safety systemsExperience interpreting blueprints/CAD drawingsExperience in comprehending plans, specifications, and equipment shop drawingsExperience working in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environmentProficient with computer systems including documents, spreadsheets, email, and maintenance systemsPreferred QualificationsNETA or NICET electrical testing experience/certificationsTrade Certification or state license as an electricianExperience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)Equipment field service engineering or representative experienceInstrumentation & control, power system protection, power automation, etc. experienceExperience in the data center industryExperience in high voltage (up to 345kV) equipment construction, operation, and maintenanceDemonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologiesResponsibilitiesServe as an onsite technical resource of electrical infrastructure systems and equipment, with an emphasis on practical field operationSupport cross-functional collaboration including all local and global partnersContribute to electrical safety program for sitePlan, resource, author or approve work procedures to cover electrical troubleshooting, repair, retrofit, and maintenance activities, with an emphasis on assessing & mitigating personnel and critical systems and operational riskConduct or hands-on troubleshooting, repair, retrofit, and maintenance of electrical equipmentAssess all electrical system configurations and component upgrades to ensure system integrity is maintained and that all modifications to existing systems are in compliance with best practices, including change control processesProvide Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QAQC) oversight of construction projects & maintenance activityLead and/or participate in root-cause analysis activities in area of expertiseProvide training to Critical Facility Engineers and other cross functional teams on electrical equipment, systems, procedures, and changesManage vendor relationships for electrical maintenance and retrofit workProvide feedback on global electrical maintenance strategies and global electrical system design improvementsTravel expectations can be significant during the first 1-3 months for initial training and onboarding.
