This position reports to the Director of Business and Fiscal Supervisor, and works in collaboration with the Human Relations team. The Payroll Officer is responsible for accurately preparing and entering the district’s monthly payroll and payroll related documents. This position requires knowledge in the areas of S-275, budgeting, retirement and benefits, classified and certificated staffing, and other payroll related duties.\nEssential Functions & Responsibilities:\nPayroll\nProcess monthly payroll for Enumclaw School District employees in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, contract requirements, and district policies.\nMaintain and update employee payroll records including rates of pay, new enrollments, deductions, direct deposits, authorizations, retirement and benefit data.\nEnsure timesheets, absentee records, and other on-going input for payroll are collected, verified, and posted timely and accurately.\nPerform special payroll processing activities such as retroactive pay increases, fiscal year start-up, contractual changes, and end of year processing.\nReporting & Compliance\nAssist with reporting requirements for the Internal Revenue Service, Social Security\nAdministration, Washington Department of Labor and Industries, Puget Sound Worker’s Compensation Trust, Department of Retirement Systems, and other agencies.\nProcess documentation to maintain compliance with child support agencies, Internal Revenue\nService, and district sources regarding payroll wage garnishments and levies.\nAssist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for state and government agencies as required by law.\nProvide a variety of required internal and external reports to the Business Office.\nAnalysis & Support\nPerform regular payroll audits to ensure accuracy and completeness.\nReview and resolve payroll discrepancies and issues in a timely manner.\nResearch and analyze district and peer payroll records for bargaining and budgeting purposes.\nCollaboration & Customer-Focused Support\nSupport district staff by serving as a point of contact for employee payroll needs while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.\nCommunicate clearly and regularly with district employees regarding payroll policies and inquiries.\nCollaborate with the Human Relations and Business Office team to ensure alignment and accuracy.\nProfessional Growth\nMaintain knowledge of current payroll regulations, as well as tax and benefit requirements.\nSeek opportunities to learn and grow in the areas of payroll and related functions.\nPerform other duties as assigned in support of the Business Office.\nQualifications:\nHigh school graduate with some post high school coursework in accounting, bookkeeping, and data entry and/or degree preferred.\nMust have a minimum of two years of experience in an automated payroll system.\nExperience in Skyward Qmlativ/WESPAC, Aesop/Frontline or other main-frame and relational database systems preferred.\nWorking knowledge of Microsoft Suite and Google Workspace.\nDemonstrated ability to learn specific rules, laws, regulations, contract language and policies quickly and apply them to a variety of transactions without immediate supervision.\nDemonstrated ability to work at a fast pace and maintain accuracy including compiling data and completing records and reports, and perform accurate mathematical computations.\nMust possess excellent customer service skills and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.\nAbility to work under pressure and prioritize multiple deadlines in a busy office.\nAbility to understand and carry out complex oral and written directions.\nAbility to interpret and apply policies, procedures, contracts, and regulations.\nMust be able to meet the staff and public in a tactful and courteous manner when responding to questions and possess effective oral and written communication skills.\nAbility to effectively organize and prioritize work.\nMust maintain confidentiality.\nAbility to work effectively independently and collaboratively as part of the Business Office team.\nOutside applicants- HOW TO APPLY:\nGo to the Enumclaw School District Website and then click on Menu/Human Resources/Job Openings & Online Applications in the menu.\nOnce there, click the Register button to get started.
