This role works closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Customers to drive continuous improvement, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and overall manufacturing excellence.\n\nThe Quality Engineer serves as a key resource in maintaining customer satisfaction, reducing defects, improving process capability, and supporting a culture of quality throughout the organization.\n\nThe Quality Engineer will initially report to the Director of Quality.\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nQuality Systems & Compliance\n\nMaintain compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, IPC, customer-specific requirements, and internal quality standards.\n\nSupport internal, customer, and third-party quality audits.\n\nAssist in maintaining quality procedures, work instructions, forms, and documentation.\n\nEnsure effective implementation of Quality Management System requirements throughout the organization.\n\nConduct scheduled Site Management Reviews.\n\nProcess & Product Quality\n\nMonitor manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for quality improvement.\n\nMake the day to day referee call on the floor as part of your daily responsibilities.\n\nDevelop and implement process controls and inspection methodologies.\n\nAnalyze quality trends, defects, scrap, rework, and customer complaints.\n\nEstablish and monitor key quality metrics and performance indicators.\n\nCreate/Review AS9102 level FAI, PPAPs, and Production Validation activities.\n\nLead all site training requirements.\n\nCorrective and Preventive Actions\n\nLead root cause investigations using structured problem‑solving techniques such as:\n\n8D\n\n5 Why Analysis\n\nFishbone Diagrams\n\nPareto Analysis\n\nDevelop, implement, and verify corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).\n\nTrack effectiveness of corrective actions and ensure timely closure.\n\nCustomer Quality Support\n\nServe as a quality liaison for customer concerns and non‑conformances.\n\nInvestigate customer complaints and coordinate responses.\n\nParticipate in customer meetings regarding quality performance and improvement initiatives.\n\nSupplier Quality\n\nSupport supplier qualification and performance monitoring.\n\nLead Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs).\n\nAssist in evaluating incoming material quality issues and supplier performance trends.\n\nContinuous Improvement\n\nLead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on:\n\nDefect reduction\n\nYield improvement\n\nProcess capability\n\nCost reduction\n\nCustomer satisfaction\n\nUtilize Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies where applicable.\n\nCollaborate with engineering and operations teams on process improvements and new product introductions.\n\nData Analysis & Reporting\n\nCollect, analyze, and interpret quality data.\n\nPrepare quality reports, dashboards, and management summaries.\n\nUtilize statistical methods to evaluate process performance and identify trends.\n\nRecommend actions based on data‑driven analysis.\n\nRequirements\nQualifications\n\nBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field preferred.\n\nEquivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.\n\nMinimum 3–5 years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.\n\nElectronics manufacturing, PCB assembly, EMS, or contract manufacturing experience strongly preferred.\n\nExperience supporting ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality systems preferred.\n\nExperience with customer audits and corrective action processes.\n\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\n\nStrong understanding of quality management systems and manufacturing processes.\n\nWorking knowledge of IPC standards (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001 preferred).\n\nExperience with statistical analysis and quality tools.\n\nStrong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\n\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively across departments.\n\nProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.\n\nExperience with ERP, MES, or quality management software preferred.\n\nPreferred Certifications\n\nCertified Quality Engineer (CQE) – ASQ\n\nSix Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt\n\nISO 9001 Internal Auditor Certification\n\nIPC Certification (CIS or CIT)\n\nPhysical Requirements\n\nAbility to walk manufacturing floors and production areas regularly.\n\nAbility to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.\n\nAbility to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods.\n\nAssembly Technologies, Inc. is committed to delivering high-quality products and exceptional customer service.
