Our team of employee-owners, equipped with innovative technology and optimized procedures, helps owners optimize safety, productivity, profit margins, and cost-efficiency.Senior Electric Motor TechnicianThe Senior Electric Motor Technician will be responsible for performing routine preventive maintenance (PMs), removals, replacements, and repairs of electric motors in various industrial settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical maintenance, specifically with electric motors, and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.Specific Duties And ResponsibilitiesReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. However, essential functions are as follows:Perform routine preventive maintenance (PMs) on electric motors, including but not limited to:Visual inspectionsVibration analysisThermal imagingCleaning and lubrication of motors and associated equipmentRemove and replace electric motors as needed, ensuring proper installation and alignmentRepair electric motors up to but not including rewinding and full rebuilds, specifically:Bearing replacement and repairSeal replacement and repairShaft repair and replacementEndbell and housing repair and replacementTroubleshoot and diagnose motor problems using various testing equipment and techniquesCollaborate with other maintenance personnel to ensure efficient and effective maintenance operationsMaintain accurate and detailed records of maintenance activities, including work orders, PM schedules, and parts inventoryDevelop and implement predictive maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and optimize motor performanceProvide training and guidance to junior technicians as neededEnsures compliance with regulatory standards and safety protocols during all operationsUse root cause analysis tools to identify permanent solutions for recurrence failures causing equipment downtime.Provide technical support during commissioning and start up for new electric motor equipment, installation, configuration and testing.Understands interactions with other departments in activities such as maintenance schedulingIdentifies areas of business process improvement opportunities and provides input with solutionsInterprets issues/questions regarding schematics, diagrams, written/verbal instructions, layouts or defined plansInteract actively with stakeholders and departments on work planning and coordinationMentors/trains lower-level technicians.Develop and maintain SOPs using technical expertise and in conformance with standards.Decides which type of maintenance is needed, selects parts for replacementMay participate on cross-functional teamsMay conduct and/or oversee routine inspections and investigationsInterprets complex data from equipment, processes etc.Applies knowledge of relevant best practices, state and local code in area of expertiseRegular attendance and timeliness is required per departmental guidelinesAdhere and enforce safety rules, follow safe procedures and guidelines.Support plant operation during off-hours as neededCompetencies/Experience Needed5+ years of experience as an electric motor technician or in a related fieldCompletion of a technical training program in electrical maintenance or a related fieldStrong knowledge of electric motor theory, design, and applicationExperience with motor control systems, including starters, drives, and controlsFamiliarity with predictive maintenance technologies, such as vibration analysis and thermal imagingAbility to work at heights, in confined spaces, and with heavy equipmentStrong communication and teamwork skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionMust be able to perform work wearing personnel protective equipment. Including but not limited to the following: rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air purifying respirators, safety harness, sand blast hoods, fire resistant coveralls, hard hat, ear plugs and safety glasses.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body, able to reach overhead, able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; work at heights; balance for extended periods of time.Other duties as assigned.Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position. Employees assigned to a Compressed Work Week (CWW) schedules, designated A, B, C, or D above, work a 12-hour shift, either three or four days per week depending on the shift rotation. The CWW shift begins at 5:45 and ends at 6:15 each scheduled day.TravelNo overnight travel is expected for this position. Some occasional local day travel may be necessary.Required Education And ExperienceCertification as an electric motor technician or a related field (e.g. Certified Electric Motor Technician (CEMT)Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and standards (e.g. NFPA, OSHA)Experience with root cause analysis and failure mode effects analysis (FMEA)High School Diploma or technical school certification preferredTypically requires 5-10 years of experienceSemiconductor or high-volume manufacturing experience preferredThe ability to Obtain TCEQ “C” Operators Certificate within 2 years of employmentApplicants must be legally authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States. Austin Industrial is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position.Computer‑Based Work & Technical Proficiency The role involves extensive use of computers for data entry, documentation, analysis, and internal communication.Candidates must be comfortable and proficient in the full suite of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, OneNote, etc.) and able to learn new office applications quickly.
