The Controller is responsible for directing and managing the Company's accounting and financial reporting functions while ensuring the integrity of financial information, compliance with applicable accounting standards, and the effectiveness of internal controls. This position exercises significant independent judgment and discretion in developing financial policies, interpreting accounting guidance, evaluating financial risks, and recommending strategies that support organizational objectives.\n\nThe Controller serves as a key financial leader, partnering with executive management to provide financial analysis, operational recommendations, budgeting oversight, cash flow management, and strategic decision-making. This role is responsible for the overall leadership of the accounting department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of financial processes and controls.\n\nSupervisory Responsibilities:\n\nDirects the daily operations of the Accounting Department.\nProvides leadership, coaching, performance management, and professional development for accounting staff.\nEstablishes departmental priorities, assigns work, evaluates performance, and recommends hiring, promotions, disciplinary action, and termination decisions.\nDevelops departmental goals, policies, and procedures to improve operational effectiveness and financial accuracy.\nOversees the integrity of accounting systems, financial controls, and reporting processes.\nEnsures appropriate staffing and resource allocation to meet business objectives.\n\nDuties/Responsibilities:\n\nDevelop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial information and safeguard company assets.\nOversee cash flow management, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.\nAssist in maintaining, monitoring, and tracking of annual budgets/forecasts for the company's operations.\nPerform regular analysis of financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement.\nPrepare and present regular financial reports to the executive management team.\nDevelop and implement strategies to improve profitability, reduce costs, and increase revenue.\nManage the company's relationships with financial institutions, auditors, and other stakeholders.\nAssist external CPA with preparation of annual tax returns for multiple companies and their owners.\nEnsure compliance with all local, state, and federal government regulations and tax reporting.\nProvide leadership and guidance to the accounting team.\nOther projects and tasks as assigned by the CFO.\n\nRequired Skills/Abilities:\n\nStrong knowledge of GAAP and financial analysis and reporting.\nExperience with accounting and general ledger software programs.\nExperience with job costing software programs as well as online customer billing portals.\nExpert proficiency using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).\nExperience with multi-state income, sales, and use tax reporting.\nAble to communicate in a clear and professional manner (written and verbal).\nPositive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to assist wherever needed.\nAble to work independently as well as part of a diverse team.\nMust be organized and accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment.\nAble to balance a variety of tasks simultaneously and transition from task to task quickly.\n\nEducation and Experience:\n\nBachelor's degree in finance or accounting required.\nCPA or CMA certification (preferred).\n7+ years of experience in finance or accounting, with at least 3 years in a Controller role with a company in the services industry (e.g. construction, HVAC, solar installation, etc.).\n\nPhysical Requirements:\n\nProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.\nMust be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.\n\nReq Benefits: At Trinity Solar, you're not just starting a job-you're building a career path to success.
