Over the past decade, the division has grown tremendously, securing major projects, including the $828 million Gerald Desmond Bridge, the first cable-stayed vehicular bridge in California.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\nThe responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:\n\nPerforming assignments that require the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria’s to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.\nExercising judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.\nPreparing engineering related calculations and developing drawings and visual aids.\nAssisting with field inspections to evaluate the work performed and materials used.\nAssisting with construction administration and documentation of deficiencies and deviations from plans.\nWorking under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.\nResearching and compiling project information for reporting, marketing, and funding requests.\nCreating and maintaining centralized files for project records (including digital).\nCoordinating logistics and meetings for project managers.\nHelping in the preparation of reports, including monthly development reports.\nAssisting with community outreach duties as needed.\nAttending neighborhood, community, and project meetings.\nUndertaking tasks as may be assigned by project managers.\nHaving a clear understanding of the budget and assist in the creation of and adherence to project and development budgets.\n\nQualifications:\n\nMinimum Requirements:\n\nBachelors Degree in Engineering or Construction Management or a related field + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.\nPrior heavy civil project experience (Roadway, bridge, rail/transit, etc.).\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\nExperience in heavy civil construction with an understanding of construction methods, means, and materials.\nProficiency in AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.\nAbility to interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents.\nKnowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.\nEffective leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to work in outdoor and high-paced field environments.\n\nAdditional Information:\n\nQualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.\nThis position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.\n\nThe salary range for this position is between $105,000 - $130,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.\n\nShimmick's comprehensive benefits plan includes medical, dental and vision coverage; as well as options to participate in an FSA or HSA. The Company also provides employer paid STD, LTD, basic life and AD&D, and an Employee Assistance Program.
