The role combines systems engineering, technical writing and regulatory compliance to produce clear specifications, test plans and certification artifacts, and to drive conformance and interoperability across internal teams and external standards bodies. The Senior Standards Engineer will own requirements traceability, change control, risk management and certification processes while facilitating technical committees and coordinating lab and field testing to ensure products meet quality, safety and regulatory obligations.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nDevelop, author and maintain technical specifications, standards, and compliance documentation for hardware, firmware and embedded systems.\nDefine, manage and trace requirements through DOORS (or equivalent), ensuring requirements traceability from concept through test and release.\nCreate and execute test strategies, test plans and test cases for conformance, interoperability and validation testing; coordinate lab testing and interoperability events.\nLead conformance and interoperability testing efforts including SNMP, MQTT and TCP/IP based protocols; analyze results and coordinate defect resolution with engineering teams.\nDrive certification and regulatory compliance activities, prepare certification artifacts, and liaise with certification bodies and regulatory agencies.\nPerform risk assessments and formal analyses (FMEA), and integrate risk mitigation into product lifecycle and design controls.\nManage configuration, change control and release activities in collaboration with Product Lifecycle Management and Configuration Management teams.\nFacilitate technical committees, working groups and stakeholder reviews; serve as technical committee liaison with standards organizations and industry consortia.\nProvide systems engineering leadership for hardware-software integration, including metrology requirements and lab validation of embedded systems and firmware.\nAuthor clear, concise technical documentation, user-facing compliance statements, and compliance reporting; maintain documentation in Confluence/SharePoint and version control.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams (QA, firmware, hardware, cybersecurity, product management and support) to ensure alignment on standards, requirements and test outcomes.\nUse and promote Agile and Waterfall project execution practices; manage and track work in JIRA, and maintain artifacts in DOORS, GIT and related toolsets.\n\nQualifications\n\nBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or equivalent; Masters degree preferred.\n5+ years of professional experience in standards, systems engineering, test & validation, or regulatory compliance roles.\nStrong technical writing skills with a track record of producing clear specifications, certification dossiers and compliance reports.\nExperience facilitating working groups, stakeholder management and serving as a technical committee liaison or industry representative.\nKnowledge of cybersecurity requirements for embedded products and experience integrating security controls into requirements and test plans.\nExcellent communication, project management and cross-functional leadership skills; ability to balance technical detail with stakeholder needs.\n\nBenefits\n\nGenerously subsidized medical, dental, vision insurance, includes company contributions to HSA plans\nCompany-paid life and disability insurance\n401(k) plan with up to a 5% match\n15 days of PTO, increasing to 20 after one year. 5 days paid sick leave, 13 paid holidays\n20 weeks paid leave for birthing parents, 12 weeks for others\nTuition reimbursement\nBonus and long-term incentive plan\nAll benefits eligible day 1 of employment\n- For this position, you must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship for a non-immigrant visa.
