Certified Home Health/Hospice AideLocation: Newport Beach, California 92660Duration: 13 weeksShift: 8:30am - 5pmPay Range: $20.00 - $25.00/hourly on W2Position Overview:The Certified Home Health/Hospice Aide (CHHA) is a paraprofessional member of the home care/hospice team who works under the supervision of a registered nurse or therapist and performs and assists patient with various personal care services as necessary to meet the patient's personal needs and to promote comfort. The CHHA is responsible for observing patients, reporting these observations, and documenting observations and care performed. The CHHA will be assigned in a manner that promotes quality, continuity and safety of a patient's care. The CHHA will not function in any manner viewed as the practice of nursing according to the state's Nurse Practice Act. Specifically, the CHHA will not administer medications, take physician's orders or perform procedures requiring the training, knowledge and skill of a nurse, such as sterile techniques.Skills:Demonstrates ability to work with a diverse group of people in a manner that enables them to reach their full potential, in pursuit of organizational objectives.Maintains knowledge of technology, tools, equipment and other devices in work area.Follows all policies and procedures in place within the department and organization to minimize the risk of spreading infections.Demonstrates energy, aptitude and motivation in taking on activities relating to personal and work objectives.Listens to and understands what others are saying.Demonstrates full knowledge and understanding of concepts and procedures needed to be successful in the role, including knowledge of applicable department, organization and external rules and regulations impacting day to day processes.Ability to speak and write effectively, demonstrates fundamental command of language, communicates well using all mediums.Demonstrates support and empathy as well as conveys knowledge to patients and families in a non-judgmental manner that encourages questions.Embraces the principle of keeping patients safe by following safety policies and procedures, treating people with respect, and speaking up in Patient Safety related situations.Position may require local travel between various organization locations.Completed a minimum of 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training.Provides a calm manner when in a patient's home.Understands hospice philosophy, comfortable providing specialized care to the terminally ill and secure with issues of death/dying.Empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail and the impaired.Education:High School Diploma or equivalent.Required Certifications & Licensure:Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) certification in the State of California, in good standing.Current BLS certification.Registration on the Home Care Aide Registry through the Department of Social Services, Home Care Services Bureau, in good standing.Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order.
