We have an ambitious goal: to change the way the world communicates.\nThis is a chance to be a subject matter expert on all things related to control systems for our next-generation optical communications terminals (Free Space Optical Communications). In this role, you will be a key part of the team building robust, reliable embedded control systems that implement our cutting-edge communication capabilities. You'll work on some of the most challenging problems in the control systems software space and develop autonomous functions to support Pointing, Acquisition & Tracking, as well as other critical adaptive control capabilities.\nKey Responsibilities\nDevelop real-time control system software for control, monitoring, and telemetry.\nWork on the full life cycle of control system development, from concept to design, integration, testing, and release.\nCreate embedded C language, nested, low-latency, closed-loop control systems for optical imaging and tracking.\nRun lab experiments (instrumentation, test, and data acquisition) to validate the capability and robustness of control systems.\nInvestigate improvements to reduce latencies and increase uptime and reliability.\nCollaborate with firmware, system, and product platform engineers to implement algorithms and ensure they meet design goals and requirements.\nContribute to technical requirements in collaboration with the optical, mechanical, and electrical design teams.\nRequired Qualifications\n5+ years of C development.\nExtensive experience with high-speed control loops and control systems.\nProficiency in control design analysis and simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink.\nExperience with non-linear systems, using techniques such as gain scheduling and linearization to achieve closed-loop control stability.\nExpertise in converting, implementing, and debugging Control Laws, Digital Filters, and other Digital Signal Processing into embedded C code.\nFamiliarity with Control Laws in State Space or Laplace domain.\nExperience with real-time operating systems and microcontroller-based systems.\nProficiency with Linux command line scripting and Git.\nStrong ability to investigate, diagnose, and correct product malfunctions.\nA proven track record of measuring and tuning products to meet performance design criteria (e.g., Gain and Phase margins).\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Adaptive Optics systems.\nKnowledge of electronic circuits and schematics.\nExperience with hardware design, optical, or opto-electronic sensors.\nProficiency with Python or Go.\nFamiliarity with lab tools like digital-signal analyzers, power meters, and oscilloscopes.\nA background in applied mathematics or linear systems.\nReady to help us build the future of global communications?
