This position is responsible for safely operating 3D laser and/or CNC plasma cutting equipment to produce accurate structural components according to drawings, BOMs, work orders, and production requirements.\n\nThe ideal candidate will have experience operating 3D laser machines, Mazak 3D machines, CNC plasma, or similar cutting equipment and understand how machine settings, consumables, material setup, and maintenance affect cut quality.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nSafely operate 3D laser and/or CNC plasma cutting equipment.\n\nMonitor the laser head or plasma torch throughout the cutting process.\n\nMonitor and maintain consistent cut quality.\n\nInspect, clean, adjust, and replace machine consumables as needed.\n\nIdentify worn or damaged consumables before they affect production quality.\n\nTroubleshoot issues such as rough cuts, excessive slag, poor pierces, inconsistent bevels, misfires, arc issues, burning, incomplete cuts, and poor hole quality.\n\nPerform daily and scheduled preventative maintenance according to company procedures.\n\nChange and properly install chuck jaws for different material sizes and shapes.\n\nVerify material is properly secured before machine operation.\n\nFollow proper machine setup, start-up, operating, and shutdown procedures.\n\nVerify material type, size, thickness, and grade before cutting.\n\nRead and understand shop drawings, BOMs, cut lists, and work orders.\n\nUse measuring tools to verify finished parts meet required dimensions and tolerances.\n\nIdentify and track scrap, drops, and usable remnant material.\n\nSafely operate an overhead crane after required training/certification.\n\nProperly rig and move long or heavy structural material.\n\nMaintain a clean and organized work area.\n\nFollow all company safety requirements, including PPE, machine guarding, laser safety, fire prevention, crane safety, and material handling procedures.\n\nPerform other duties as assigned by TAS Energy.\n\nRequired Skills & Qualifications\n\nPrevious experience operating a 3D laser, Mazak 3D machine, CNC plasma, or similar CNC cutting equipment preferred.\n\nUnderstanding of laser head and/or plasma torch operation.\n\nAbility to identify when consumables need to be cleaned, adjusted, or replaced.\n\nAbility to recognize poor cut quality and make appropriate adjustments or stop production when necessary.\n\nExperience performing preventative machine maintenance.\n\nAbility to properly change and install chuck jaws.\n\nAbility to read shop drawings, BOMs, work orders, and cut lists.\n\nAbility to accurately read a tape measure and perform basic shop math.\n\nAbility to convert common fractions to decimals.\n\nKnowledge of structural steel shapes, including beams, channels, angles, tubing, pipe, plate, and bar stock.\n\nKnowledge of safe overhead crane and rigging practices.\n\nStrong attention to detail and safety awareness.\n\nGood communication and teamwork skills.\n\nAbility to troubleshoot machine and cut-quality issues.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nHigh school diploma or equivalent.\n\nVocational training or certification in machine operation, CNC, manufacturing, or a related field.\n\nForklift certification.\n\nOverhead crane certification.\n\nExperience with lean manufacturing principles.\n\nStrong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.\n\nPhysical Requirements & Work Environment\n\nWork is performed in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing/shop environment.\n\nAbility to stand and/or walk for extended periods, including shifts of up to 10 hours.\n\nAbility to work up to 6 days per week based on production needs.\n\nFrequent bending, twisting, reaching, standing, walking, and maintaining balance.\n\nOccasional kneeling, crouching, crawling, or sitting.\n\nAbility to frequently lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds.\n\nAbility to occasionally carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds over
