The types of panel size vary from retrofit plates to full size outdoor enclosures.\nAs a Mechanical Engineer you will work with our customers and internal SEL Panels team consisting of designers, project managers, purchasing team, and our production team. Our project life cycle on average is 12-14 weeks. The project work consists of creating custom sheet metal parts, creating and/or reviewing drawings for production, as well as working closely with production while the project is being constructed.\nContinuous improvement using Lean, 6-sigma, and World Class Manufacturing principles is an important aspect of every jobe at SEL. As a Manufacturing Engineer you will lead and model these principles, as well as modeling the SEL core values every day.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\n1. Perform the following mechanical engineering functions:\n- assembly design\n- plastic and metal part design\n- tolerance studies\n- design for manufacturability/assembly\n- component selection and specification\n- thermal analysis and design\n- mechanical shock and vibration analysis\n2. Qualify and monitor component and custom part vendors.\n3. Generate and maintain accurate Bills of Material. Provide accurate labor and material estimates.\n4. Review, support, approve and provide recommendations for improvements to documentation, mechanical designs, and manufacturing process design.\n5. Write test plans, conduct design tests, and review results.\n6. Maintain current and accurate project notebooks.\n7. Mentor ME Interns, Designers, and Associate ME’s.\n8. Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.\n9. Understand. Create. Simplify.\n10. Other duties as assigned.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nB.S. and/or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering\n2+ years’ experience in three or more of the following areas:\n- electromechanical packaging design\n- heat transfer\n- materials and processes\n- mechanics\n- computer-aided design\n- electronic manufacturing techniques\nStrong problem solving skills\nStrong project management experience\nStrong writing, documentation, and speaking skills\nAbility to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities\nAbility to work cooperatively in a team environment\nBackground check results satisfactory to SEL\nNegative drug test result(s)\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n2+ years SolidWorks experience\nEnvironmental testing experience\nIndustrial plastics\nThermal modelling\nFinite Element Analysis\nPhysical Requirements\nNone\nPay Range Data\nWe base our starting pay offer on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
