{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"d6e3d577fc615ac811ada6c3","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/d6e3d577fc615ac811ada6c3","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/d6e3d577fc615ac811ada6c3","title":"MPI Exeter - Welder","description":"Job Description\r\nA welder at McWane Plant & Industrial in Exeter, CA is responsible for assembling, repairing, and joining metal components using various welding techniques while ensuring safety and quality standards.\r\nResponsibilities & Qualifications\r\nReading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings to understand product specifications and measurements.\r\nMeasuring, cutting, and shaping metal components using hand tools, plasma cutters, or metal cutting machines.\r\nPerforming welding operations using techniques such as MIG, TIG, Stick, and arc welding to join metal parts.\r\nSetting up, maintaining, and operating welding equipment safely and efficiently.\r\nObtaining specified electrode and inserting it into a portable holder or threading consumable electrode wire through a portable welding gun.\r\nConnecting cables from the welding unit to achieve specified amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse as directed by the Welding Engineer or Welding Technician.\r\nGenerating an arc that melts and deposits metal from the electrode to the workpiece to form a joint.\r\nGuiding the electrode or gun along the weld line, maintaining arc length and movement speed to achieve the specified depth of fusion and bead.\r\nWelding in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.\r\nExamining welds for bead size and other specifications.\r\nApplying filler rod manually to supply weld metal.\r\nCleansing or degreasing weld joints or workpieces.\r\nRepairing broken or cracked parts and filling holes.\r\nPreparing broken parts for welding by grooving or scaring surfaces.\r\nChipping off excess weld, slag, and spatter.\r\nPreheating workpieces with a hand torch or heating furnace.\r\nPositioning and clamping workpieces together or assembling them in a jig or fixture.\r\nTacking assemblies together.\r\nPerforming other related duties as needed to meet project or organizational requirements.\r\nEducation and Experience\r\nHigh school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in welding is highly preferred. Continuous education and certification renewal are often required to keep up with evolving welding technologies and methods.\r\nCertification, Licenses, Registrations\r\nProfessional credentials from recognized organizations such as the American Welding Society (AWS), including Certified Welder (CW) status.\r\nSkills and Abilities\r\nHands-on welding experience through previous jobs or apprenticeships; familiarity with different metals and welding techniques.
